Contact me about summer tutoring!

I am an English tutor specializing in reading, writing, and English as a Second Language. I am a current graduate student at Georgia State University in the Applied Linguistics and TESOL program with many hours of teaching and tutoring behind me. I have worked as a teacher and tutor with all ages of students, from preschool to adults, native and non-native English speakers. I have taught grammar, composition, literacy skills, study skills, and conversational English. I would be thrilled to share my love of the many facets of English with you or your child.

As a tutor and teacher, I believe that my greatest asset lies in my calm and flexible nature. We will work on whatever skill you need to work on, we will have an enjoyable and educational time, and we will see results!

No matter what your language-related concern is, I believe that through an integrated and communicative approach, you can improve your skills. Reading, writing, spelling, pronunciation, grammar, conversational skills: all of these things go hand-in-hand. Together we can unlock your interest and skill in your subject. You can achieve a lot in and through language and I would be happy to help you do so.

ACT English

My BA is in English Literature and Language. I am currently working on an MA in Applied Linguistics and TESOL, so I spend a lot of time thinking about grammar. I think the best way to learn grammar is to read a lot and to listen when people speak. Once you have that, you just need to brush up on test-taking skills to do well on the ACT.

My educational background has been focused on English, both the language and the literature. I love the language, its history, and its possibility. I believe that language is the most important tool we have, both written and spoken, and I believe that it's important for each of us to get what we can out of it. English is and should be fun and interesting. It is difficult and many-sided, but we can all learn to love it.

I am currently a student at Georgia State, studying to be an ESL teacher. I also teach a beginner's conversational English class and I have experience working with English learners who want to improve their English literacy skills. When I teach English, I focus on the language you will use and on the language as American English-speakers actually use it. I love the English language and I would love to share my enthusiasm for it with you.

I have a BA in English Language & Literature and I am currently working on my MA in Applied Linguistics and English as a Second Language. Having experience on both sides of the grammar debate, I now believe that grammar is a tool like any other. Just like any other skill we learn, grammar doesn't have to be boring.

I have experience teaching reading from the very beginning levels of literacy (letters and sight-words) to more advanced-level skills, like learning to deduce meaning from the surrounding text. I believe that reading is the most important skill we learn but that doesn't mean the learning part can't be fun!

I have a BA in English Language & Literature and I am currently working on my MA in Applied Linguistics and English as a Second Language. I have spent my college and graduate school careers surrounded by the English language, and I have come to see it for the fun and interesting conglomeration that it is. Improving your vocabulary isn't a straightforward process. I would love to help you learn the many tricks involved in gaining this skill.
