I have had considerable experience in teaching history, as well as over twenty publications on a wide variety of historical subjects. In addition, I have taught courses in Great Issues, a survey course in events and ideas of great historical significance.
I am a very experienced biology professor, specializing in genetics and molecular biology. I have been a designer of the AP Biology exam, as well as a reader of AP Biology essay questions. I have taught genetics, cell biology, botany, evolution, and plant physiology. I have about a dozen publications in biology, but I consider myself first and foremost a teacher of biology.
Ph.D. in Botany, with a specialization in higher plants and fungi. I have written portions of textbooks on photosynthesis, respiration, genetics, and evolution. My research has been in higher plant taxonomy and fungal genetics.
I have had a number of years of experience teaching argumentative writing, composition, introduction to literature, and modern drama to college undergraduates. I am also a published author of reviews, essays, short stories, plays, and scientific articles.
My doctoral work was in biochemical genetics of fungi, with extensive experience in the heredity of higher organisms, including humans.
I have taught literature and composition at both the high school and college levels. I am currently teaching courses in non-fiction and modern drama, but I have extensive experience in literature survey courses.
I have extensive knowledge and preparation in the biological and biochemical sciences, especially in genetics, molecular biology, evolution, and cell physiology. I have been a test-preparer for the AP Biology program, as well as having ten years of experience in grading AP Biology essay questions. In addition, I have over twenty-five years of experience in preparing pre-med students for application to medical schools, including review sessions for the MCAT. I have done research in human chromosomal disorders.
My doctoral work was in microbial genetics and biochemistry, particularly with fungi. I have had considerable experience in bacterial genetics and physiology, and I have a thorough knowledge of DNA and its manifold aspects.
I am a published author (five textbooks and over thirty articles) who has taught freshman composition on the college level. I am certified as a high school English teacher. I am interested in the techniques of writing both fiction and non-fiction. In addition, I have served as an editor for several national publications.
I have had four undergraduate courses in zoology and five graduate courses in zoology. In addition, I have extensive knowledge of heredity throughout the animal kingdom.
