Adobe Photoshop

I currently teach PhotoShop to 10th-12th graders. For this subject, I will assess where the student is currently and what he or she hopes to achieve with the program, then I will design sessions with those goals in mind. The primary focus for someone completely new to the program will be to learn PhotoShop's major tools and capabilities but to also learn the basics of good design.

Art History

I assess what the student's primary needs are, whether it is to focus on a specific period of art or whether the student needs a general overview, and then I will formulate my session upon those needs. I minored in Art History during undergraduate school and am currently working on a Master's Degree in Medieval Art History. I have also traveled to world famous museums in Chicago, New York, London, Rome,Vatican City, Florence, and Amsterdam to increase my visual arts contextual understanding and overall appreciation that I now share with students in my classroom.

Drawing

I currently teach Drawing to 9th-12th graders. My degree is in illustration which involved taking five drawing courses at the collegiate level. For this subject, I would assess where the student is currently and what they hope to achieve and design the sessions around those things. If there is a specific interest such as cartooning, portraiture, perspective, etc. in lieu of a broader more general scope, I will be happy to focus on just that area.

Painting

I currently teach Painting to 10th-12th graders as an advanced level course. For this subject, I would assess where the student is currently, what they hope to achieve and design the sessions around those wants and needs. I use ink and watercolor to produce my work. My strengths and interests are in watercolor and acrylics. If you are specifically interested in oil painting I would not be the tutor for you.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
