WRITERLY WRITING -- ENGLISH GRAMMAR -- COPYEDITING/PROOFREADING

Too often we hear that students are sorely lacking in their writing and English grammar skills. This can be remedied with the right tutor. I am a twice-published novelist and nonfiction writer. I have been doing this successfully for more than 10 years.

I enjoy working with teens and adults. I've also worked extensively with fellow writers, who are working on novels, short stories or even nonfiction, and who wish to be published. Finally, I've worked as a professional copyeditor/proofreader for newspapers and manuscripts.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ESL/ESOL

I enjoy working with foreign students and have taught ESL students both privately and in a classroom setting.

Too often I’ve heard fellow writers bemoan editors or “the market” for their failure to publish. “Do you belong to a critique group?” I ask. Too often, the answer is no. From my experience, there are few writers who are so gifted that they can write in a vacuum. While it’s fine to get feedback from lay readers, or even family members, there is no substitute for baring your work to the scrutiny... read more
