I like explaining things. Whether it's Russian or English grammar, I don't consider my knowledge of something complete until I can explain it.
As an Emory graduate with a degree in history, I've done my fair share of explaining historical concepts, and I can help you do the same. I also worked as a writing tutor for a year and a half, so I can critique writing in any subject as well.
Having spent two years in Moscow, I'm pretty much the next best thing to a native speaker for learning Russian. If you're a beginner or a low-level speaker, though, I'm even better. Why? Native speakers often lack the ability to explain things about their own language. While you should certainly pick up sounds from native speakers and learn from them at advanced levels, having a teacher who has had to learn the language from the ground up just as you have is less likely to leave you frustrated.
