I have been a commercial illustrator for 30 years. I specialize in product illustration. I have worked with numerous clients including: Coca Cola, Sony, Chick-fil-A, Arby's, Red Lobster, Harley Davidson and many more. I was conventionally trained and am a skilled air brush artist. I started to create digital art in 1994. I am most proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I also have written activity books and comic books, as well as designed toys for restaurant 'kids meals'.
As a professional, I believe that the foundation to any artistic endeavor begins with drawing. If your drawing is flawed, no amount of paint will fix it. I use a hands on approach to teaching and believe that historical context is worth knowing. Digital art utilizes the same rules as old school conventional art. I know many little tricks to make digital art more dynamic and interesting.
It is important that my student does their own work on their own equipment. Little information is learned by just watching how I do something. So, I try to show the student how it can be done and then let them learn it their way. With art, there can be many different solutions to achieve success.
