I've been a college professor for 10 years teaching classes in geology, environmental sciences, anthropology/Native American Studies and critical thinking. Most importantly, I have LOTS of experience teaching students in an informal setting through a nine-week semester that takes students to 24 states and 30 national parks to learn about geology, environmental science and Native American culture. Arguably, it's a lot more fun than learning in a classroom! So, I know how to explain things simply and clearly to students of all experience and academic levels AND I can share lots of cool experiences and examples (and samples) from the field with you that will help you excel in these subjects! I'm a native Georgian and I have lots of experience with sites around the state as well, so if you want an real experiential tutoring experience, I'm the one that can help you!
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in this subject from the University of Georgia. I graduate summa cum laude with highest honors. I have taught this subject at the university level for 10 years at Bowling Green State University, including developing new courses and modifying existing courses. I have taught university level courses both in the traditional classroom, but also in the field and I have visited hundreds of anthropological sites across the United States and several in Europe and north Africa.
I have a Master's degree in geology, but the focus of my thesis was geoarchaeology from the University of Georgia. I have also worked as a professional archaeologist on projects in the metro Atlanta area and I have worked at the State of Georgia Archaeological Site File. I have taught this subject at the university level for 10 years at Bowling Green State University, including developing new courses and modifying existing courses. I have taught university level courses both in the traditional classroom, but also in the field and I have visited dozens of archaeological sites across the United States and several in Europe and north Africa.
As a faculty member in geology in a school that also included environmental sciences, I have developed and taught courses at the college level in ecology/environmental sciences for the last 10 years. These courses have been both on and off campus and have included various aspects of ecological science, in particular, issues related to hydrology, ecosystems and biomes function, and keystone aquatic and terrestrial organisms.
I have a Master's degree in Geology from the University of Georgia, where I specialized in the application of geological techniques and theories of understanding the natural world to the artifacts and civilizations of human societies. For the past 10 years, I have taught geology courses both on and off campus (including developing several as well) for students at the university level at Bowling Green State University. I specialize in general education geology courses and on making the topics therein relevant and interesting for my students. Plus, I LOVE rocks!
While I do not hold a degree in physical science, I do have extensive teaching experience in ecology, geology, and environmental science, all of which rely on the basic principles typically taught in the physical sciences. I am confident that I can assist with any aspect of the physical sciences needed.
