Hello! I'm a retired teacher with thirty years experience. I can help your child learn Spanish or French quickly and easily. I can also assist in English SAT/ACT test preparation! I've taught English language arts in Gwinnett County along with Spanish and French.
Students and parents have complimented my positive approach, saying I break material into steps the student can understand. I think compartmentalizing is the key to learning effectively. Students may encounter blocks to learning as they tackle a new task. Overcoming these blocks is easy when the teacher can adapt material to the child's learning style and draw on a variety of teaching methods to reach the individual student.
Having raised three children of my own, and having taught for more than thirty years, I'm experienced in working with all levels--learning disabled through gifted, middle school through college.
I'm a graduate of the University of Paris, Emory University and Yale University, and have studied in Mexico and Guatemala. I currently teach foreign language at Emory Continuing Education.
While no one can realistically guarantee a child's success, experience counts! Students working with me have raised test scores by as much as two letter grades. I'm patient and supportive and have a wealth of teaching materials to draw on. I believe in what I teach--languages can open doors to new cultures, create a friendlier world, help advance an individual's career. Let's work together to reach your goal!
