It is critical that I identify and focus on the student's concerns and resolve those areas of concerns. I will be the facilitator to assist the students with a particular problem, rather than instructing the student on what to do. Building student tutor relationship and promoting active learning is also critical. Student must be actively engaged in the tutoring process. My role is to give suggestion, advice and ideas so that the students may draw conclusion and solution independently or cooperatively.
Understanding the student learning style during tutoring, and personalizing the tutorial to match the student learning style is also important. I will utilize the active listening technique to gain understanding of the student's tutorial style. By probing, refocusing, prompting and requesting summary, I’ll engage the students and get them talking. This will help to boost the student confidence and improve the effectiveness of the learning experience. Combining my 10 years of accounting experience in one of the Fortune top 10 companies with the desire to succeed, I believe I'll empower my students to learn and achieve and they’ll meet their learning objectives.
