Each student is different and part of my very special skill set is identifying the unique needs, learning style, and the best way to help them reach their educational goals. My experience comes from homeschooling over 10 children in the grades K-12. Not only was I responsible for creating and successfully implementing lesson plans, I also prepared students to take exams and the annual CRCT test. Most importantly, I tracked the students’ progress, making sure to identify any gaps in their foundational skills and progressing according to each individual’s needs.
I have a holistic approach to tutoring. Not only do I focus on the academic, I also employ techniques that address the emotional and environmental elements of learning that can sometimes cause slow or very little progress. I make sure that children are properly prepared using the optimal conditions so the student receives the maximum benefit from each and every session. Over the course of the tutoring session your child will become confident, improve their problem solving skills, and learn to be a critical thinker as well as meeting the educational goals of the sessions.
I love teaching and it shows in each session. Tutoring is an active experience and the help should involve more than just the routine drill and fill methods, but also activities that engage the learner’s attention and helps with retention of difficult material. Your child and I become learning partners embarking on a great journey of understanding. Each child can expect to receive positive reinforcement, gentle reminders, and a healthy balance between warmth and strictness.
I look forward to meeting with you and implementing a plan to help your child become a success.
