As an interdisciplinary student at KSU, my goals as a tutor revolve around uncovering teaching methods that work best for every individual. In keeping with that goal, I monitor new academic research in the cognitive & education fields on a weekly basis for different methodologies. I have been a private tutor since my freshman year of college in 2009 and have tutored more than 90 students in the last five years. Because I am motivated by my own acquisition of knowledge, I have been able to tutor in many different subjects.
I specialize in standardized test preparation including all sections of the PSAT, SAT, ACT, and ASVAB. By scoring above the 92nd percentile nationwide, I achieved the highest SAT score in my graduating class and was awarded an academic scholarship for my efforts. For military applicants, I scored within the 98th percentile nationwide on the ASVAB and have been recommended by many students for my tutoring abilities in that area.
My strongest tutoring subjects include the topics that I have tutored for at the college-level including general mathematics (pre-algebra, algebra I/II, geometry, trigonometry, integral and differential calculus, differential equations) and descriptive and inferential statistics with the statistical software SPSS, SAS, and R.
In addition to the topics I tutor for at the college-level and below, I have also tutored the following at the K-12 level: English, biology, chemistry, physical science, and physics.
As a student of psychology, I am well-versed in differing tutoring methods of students with various mental disadvantages including ADD/ADHD, Asperger's/Autism spectrum, and dyslexia/dysgraphia. I can provide patient guidance to all students.
