There are a few things you should know so that you can get the most out of tutoring:
*I respect you for who you are and value you as a human being. Your thoughts and your opinions matter to me.
*There are no stupid questions- ASK, ASK, ASK!
*I expect nothing less than your best and I will, in turn, give you nothing less than my best.
*As with most things in life, what you get out of this tutoring depends upon what you put in.
If you know and understand these things, we will work very well together- it does depend on your attitude though. Be positive- it’s a good way to live your life!
I am a former high school English teacher, and I am very pleased to be tutoring your child. You play an integral role in your child’s life and educational experience. If they see that you value hard work and good grades, they will work that much harder to make you proud. I may be their tutor, but you are their life teacher- by working together we can really set your student up for great successes.
I believe that the roles of the tutor and student are not at all black and white; in fact, sometimes the students themselves become the teachers. I would like to act as a guide to my students, leading them where they need to go, but then stepping back and letting them explore what they stumble upon. If they have questions, I’ll be there to answer, and if they drift off the path to somewhere that is undesirable, I’ll be there to get them back on track. Education should be their journey. I’m just there to help them along the way.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I am a tutor because I want to help YOUR child- I am here for him or her and for you.
