Hi, my name is Carletta. I am the daughter of an art/early childhood teacher(my mother had dual certification). I graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.S. degree in Microbiology and from Georgia State University with a B.A. degree in French Literature. I also enrolled at the State University of West GA in a post-baccalaureate program for teacher certification in Middle Grades. While managing the office of a veterinarian, I began tutoring high school age children in French and Math. Before I began the teacher certification program I spent almost 4 years as a teachers' assistant with a local public school system. That assignment allowed me to gain invaluable experience in working with at-risk children and those with special needs. I have been tutoring students of all ages in various subjects and settings for more than 2 decades now. Since 2008, I have also worked consistently as a subsitute teacher.
It is my belief that all students can learn with the right approach and in the right setting. Even though I have taught in a classroom environment for many years, I see the on-going need for individualized instruction. I am most effective and comfortable tutoring individuals or small-groups, and am eager to assist any parents attempting to homeschool. Individualized teaching allows for an understanding of how each student learns, which paves the way for successful learning. People of all ages (4 through 80, including those with special needs) appreciate my knowledge, adaptability, patience, and confidence in them as capable learners.
