I have worked with elementary students for four years while in school. I have worked in several preschools and have tutored kindergarten and 1st grade for a year. I am volunteering now with two reading programs for kids. One dealing exclusively with tutoring 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade in reading. I work hard to allow students to find their passion in their education with patience, creativity, and fun. I look forward to working with you and your child. Amanda is very dependable. She is punctual and arrives on time for all my grandson's lessons. She is patient, with strong organizational skills. Amanda is passionate, has the ability to plan her lessons to meet her student’s needs.
She is engaging and able to maintain my grandson's attention throughout the entire lesson. My grandson is excited and looks forward to his weekly tutoring sessions; she is inspiring him to take on new challenges, which are enabling him to reach his educational goals.
Thanks, Amanda for all your hard work and encouragement. His teacher was so impressed with the improvement he has made over the past month. He is using his classroom Wall Word Chart at home, continually writing on his white board, and sounding out words and writing short sentences to everyone
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a minor in Elementary Education. I have worked in preschools for 7 years. I have tutored dual kindergarten and first grade students in America Reads. I also volunteer with Everyone A Reader and Words Alive.
I have worked in preschools and kindergarten classrooms for the last seven years. I have worked extensively with handwriting skills with young children. I like to use the tracing method, but find sensory tools to also be a huge help with some children.
I have been crocheting for the last 12 years. I would say I am between an intermediate and master level. I am able to make my own basic designs, read patterns, and execute the product. I have my own small business selling an array of different accessories and have successfully tutored people to learn the basic beginning steps of crochet.
I have worked for America Reads for a year. This allowed me to work with students on a one-on-one base to allow them to find their passions for reading and to gain confidence in their abilities.
