With my education background I am comfortable tutoring a variety of subjects.
I have over three years of teaching English as a second language to both children and adults. I even helped launch an ESL school in Moscow, Russia, where I served as the Director of Studies. I have taught classes of more than 30 students, but I prefer tutoring one or two students at a time (no more than 8). This way I can tailor my teaching to the student's needs. I've taught all levels, and I'm comfortable teaching students no matter what their first language.
My specialty is teaching English to native Russian speakers. I'm fluent in Russian and can use my Russian to help students around road blocks as they learn English. I am also willing to tutor Russian to beginner to intermediate students.
I have a lot to offer those preparing for a variety of entrance and placement exams (ACT, SAT, ASVAB and others). I wasn't a natural student myself, and had to work hard at developing my study skills throughout high school and college. When I was in high school I taught myself valuable test-taking skills to raise my ACT score 7 points on my second try, and received a full scholarship because of it. I maintained a high grade-point average in high school and college. I even tutored fellow students in subjects like College Algebra, Chemistry and Calculus.

My philosophy of tutoring is to be a coach, not an instructor, who comes alongside to help you learn the skills to help yourself rather than simply passing off knowledge and expecting you to figure out what to do with it. I will be generous with my time when I feel there is anything I need to brush up on to better help you.
