I also conduct lessons online for a reduced rate!
I majored in both Math and Art in college and studied piano throughout high school and college as well. I love to learn and to help others as they learn. I'm planning on pursuing a master's degree in Mathematics beginning next year, and eventually I would like to become a Math Teacher.
I began my tutoring experience as a peer for Math in high school. I found it to be very rewarding and was excited to continue tutoring when I was chosen by the faculty of the university I attended to be a Calculus tutor. Throughout college, I also volunteered as a tutor at the local elementary and middle schools where I helped students with their Math homework, taught an after school French class, and assisted kindergarten students who were learning to read.
When tutoring and helping with homework, I always try to take an approach that will lead a student to discover the answer on their own. My focus is on helping students to gain knowledge and understanding, not to give answers that will lead to a good grade on one assignment and be of no further benefit. Math does not have to be hard! Sometimes it just needs to be explained in a different way. I always love getting to see the moment when a student suddenly understands a concept that used to be confusing. Those kinds of rewarding moments are the reason I continue to pursue tutoring and a teaching career.
I'm very excited about the opportunity to tutor Math and many other subjects that I love.
