I consider myself an educator first and a scientist second. I love to share my passion and concern for the environment. Teaching and tutoring gives me the opportunity to inspire and excite students about not only about environmental science, but about learning. My goals as an instructor include the preparation of students for further study and employment as well as the promotion of environmental stewardship.
I utilize multimedia and internet in my lessons and employ examples that are personally applicable to the students. By incorporating current events, I strive to make the students more invested in learning the subject. In order to increase student retention, my lessons include instruction in study techniques. These skills can be instrumental in their overall success.
My ultimate goal is to be an effective, engaging and unique teacher who is very involved with the students. Student feedback is essential in adapting my teaching methods to the dynamic nature of the modern classroom. My teaching evaluations from both students and faculty have always been exemplary, but I always strive to improve and evolve my teaching methods. I find teaching an incredibly rewarding vocation and I will always endeavor to be an innovative, engaging, and passionate educator.
