Education is not only a career but over the course of the past seven years, I have discovered that it is also my passion. Six of my seven years of experience were spent serving as a Middle Grades English Language Arts and Reading Instructor within the public school system. During this time, I successfully facilitated differentiated instruction that catered to needs of students with a diverse range of skills and academic levels. Most recently, for the past year, I transitioned to teaching English as a Second Language courses online to grade school as well as adult students residing in Asia. The focus of these courses is to build conversational speaking, grammar, and reading fluency skills. I also offer private tutoring sessions for students grades K-12 in my community with a focus on strengthening reading, writing and language skills.
My goal as an educator is to not only provide quality learning experiences but to also focus on the developmental needs of the whole student. As a result, I also serve as a youth volunteer and mentor for the youth ministry of my church. In addition to my experience as an educator, I also have a B.A. in Communication and a background in sales and customer service. In 2008, I achieved my goal of becoming a published author with the release of my first inspirational fiction novel titled “Everything but the Ring.” I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to live each day with purpose through my career in education as well as the achievement of personal goals. It is my desire to provide the skills and support necessary to assist students with achieving and exceeding their academic goals that will pave the way to fulfilling their dreams.
