As part of my requirements for my Computer Science associate degree, I completed a college algebra course. This course covered the basics of Algebra (Prealgebra and Algebra 1). In addition to doing very well, I also assisted my classmates so that they would understand the concepts.
In addition to mastering College Algebra while pursuing my associate degree in Computer Science, I also mastered Precalculus Algebra while pursing my bachelor of science in Computer Science degree. This course focused on the different properties used in Algebra: commutative, associative, linear/nonlinear equations and inequalities, functions (rational, quadratic, polynomials, exponential, logarithmic) and complex numbers. This paved the way for doing well in my Calculus and Analytic Geometry class.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science where I became proficient in C: source code; keywords; input/output (printf(), scanf() gets(), puts()); variables; directives (#define); order of precedence; looping; arrays, strings and pointers. My knowledge in C propelled me to also become proficient in C++ and Java. I also tutored fellow students at college and I love the demonstrative approach (hands on where the student and I sit at a computer and program together, correcting errors and making adjustments).

I handled variables, looping and data structures such as arrays and pointers (variables that contain addresses of other variables). I learned PERL at the University of the Virgin Islands during my Bioinformatics class. Perl is a dynamic programming language and I learned to manipulate proteins and codon sequences in PERL and transcribe DNA to RNA. In addition to that, I also learned scalar variables, array variables, string operations and file manipulation (reading and writing data to and from files). My path to Prealgebra started in high school, but was strengthened when I did College Algebra while obtaining my associate's degree in Computer Science. My Prealgebra skills were further strengthened when I did Precalculus Algebra while obtaining my Bachelor's in Computer Science degree. I did very well and that opened up the way for me to do well in my advanced classes such as Calculus and Linear Algebra.
I first did SQL when pursuing my associate degree in computer science. We learned to use SQL to access and manipulate a database in Microsoft Access. I also have experience doing projects in SQL Server.
I learned Visual Basic at the University of the Virgin Islands through a class called Human- Computer Interface Design. Since Visual Basic is an object-oriented programming language, our professor taught us to create classes of objects. This in turn enhanced our ability to create a Graphical User Interface simply and easily for various programming applications.
