Get the understanding you need to do well on your physics or math exams!

I earned my Ph.D. in physics at Georgia Tech and tutor physics and math at both the college or high school level.

My tutoring style is 1) to the point, 2) friendly, and 3) fun because I love explaining and solving physics and math problems to those that are eager to learn.

I'll explain the concepts so you gain the context you need to understand the "what" and the "why" surrounding each concept. Context is critical for solidifying your understanding and to help you remember.

I'll also explain the "how" to setup and work physics/math problems so you learn how to accurately apply your knowledge properly. I am quick when watching you solve a given problem to identify what aspect of the solution needs strengthening so you can progress quickly with good results. This way you can get "unstuck" in all the places that are challenging you during problem solving.

By following this approach to learning you will possess the understanding and confidence you need to do well on your physics and math exams.

I make learning physics and math interesting and fun because I enjoy seeing others understand it, too.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Differential Equations

Differential equations relate a function to its relevant derivatives and associated functions in a way that can model physical systems mathematically and describe any characteristic rates of change. Therefore, a formal background in advanced physics requires a strong working knowledge of solving many types of differential equations. Differential equations predominate throughout the many branches of physics such as Classical Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Quantum Mechanics, Thermodynamics, etc.

I earned my Ph.D. in Physics at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) and am therefore well acquainted with differential equations and their solutions.

Each type of differential equation has a particular solution approach to which it is best suited. The way to understand differential equations and their solutions is to be able to 1) identify the type of differential equation to be solved and then 2) know the best mathematical method for solving the given type identified.

The type of differential equations that are solvable in closed form that are within the scope of tutoring are the many categories of multi-order linear Ordinary Differential Equations and a few of the simpler Partial Differential Equations. This set of differential equation types comprise most differential equations that will be encountered in a high school or an undergraduate college curriculum.

Knowing how to identify these types of differential equations and utilize their associated mathematical solution methods is the key to find their general solution. If boundary conditions are known, a particular solution may also be found for the differential equation as well.
