I am a retired American professor of East Asian History who has taught Chinese, Korean, Japanese History, world history, and U.S. history to high school students for ten years, and at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and Illinois State University for an additional 13 years. For the past 26 years I have taught East Asian History and Culture in Japan to native Japanese speaking students. For the past 10 years, I have also taught English to ordinary Japanese students and to non-traditional students ranging from 25 to 75 years-old. I have lived in Japan for the last 26 years and taught at three prestigious Japanese Universities: Tsukuba University, Yokohama National University, and Nanzan University.
I can provide the English-speaking students with cultural and practical knowledge useful in the event they should find themselves with an opportunity to visit or live in Japan. I have a specialty in Modern Japanese History, and I am, as well, very familiar with modern day Japanese society and culture. I am available for corporate employment and tours of Japan as well.
