Hello, students and parents!
My name is Jason, and I am available to tutor a variety of subjects. I have ten years of tutoring experience with all ages from early middle school to adults in graduate/doctoral programs. I myself have a master's degree and have taken honors collegiate courses in calculus, advanced grammar, world literature, public speaking, astronomy, reproductive biology, and several psychology and sociology courses. Though I have taken history courses and other social studies courses throughout my life, I believe another tutor would be more effective in helping you meet your needs in this subject area. In my free time, I enjoy hiking with my dog, playing tennis and ping pong, and watching films. I love making teaching and learning fun and will often incorporate activities, games, or sports when I teach.
My students have considered me to be fun, engaging, and rigorous. Math and English are my specialty areas, but I have experience in several other areas, as well. I also will give private tennis lessons to interested students. Here is the breakdown of the areas where you can utilize me for your scholastic achievement:
Math: elementary math, middle school math (including probability, basic statistics, pre-algebra, and algebra I), geometry
English: grammar, vocabulary (including root words, prefixes, suffixes, and etymology), essay writing, proofreading, public speaking/speechwriting, film studies/analysis
Spanish: beginning vocabulary, grammar, and writing
Science: elementary and middle school life science/biology, high-school anatomy and physiology
Social science: psychology, sociology
Test prep: study skills, speed reading, ACT and SAT test taking skills*
Technology: Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher), Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator
Athletics: tennis, volleyball, badminton, Frisbee, table tennis
I'm excited to be able to work with you! I know that we would be great partners to meet your educational needs.
Please note that, due to my work schedule, I can be available only on weekends until the 2012-2013 school year begins.
*If interested in ACT or SAT prep, you will need to provide the study skills materials, including practice booklets and vocabulary flash cards.
