I have a bachelor's degree in Microbiology from Ohio State University and a Master of Public Health in Environmental Health from Emory University.
I have two years of experience in teaching undergraduate and graduate level science courses, specifically focusing on biological sciences and environmental health. I also have extensive experience creating lesson plans and one-on-one consultations with students who need extra guidance.
I also love to write and have excellent grammar. I have experience editing students’ papers and reports and am great at giving instruction on how to improve writing style and technique.
I have served as a career mentor for students from various backgrounds. I can offer helpful college and career prep advice!
Often times, students just need additional guidance outside of a classroom setting and personalized one-on-one instruction. At any tutoring session, I would like to be presented with the assignment or lesson that the student is having difficulty with (preferably BEFORE the session begins so I can prepare). The student should then be prepared to discuss what their first approach to solving the problem/completing the assignment would be. Then, we can work through the problem together and come to a solution. Every student is different and has a unique learning style. I attempt to work with students to develop the best study habits that work for their personality! In addition, I believe that students work best in a patient environment where they are given time to think about and discuss their approach. Usually, a student can figure out a problem on their own this way which helps develop confidence.
