Algebra 1

I have taught multiple levels of math for 27 years, including algebra I. I find the most rewarding part of my work to be one-on-one instruction. I have achieved a lot of success with it. I find that taking the time to listen to a student and then taking the time to make sure that the student understands makes all the difference. I especially enjoy the challenge of helping students who are not confident of their ability in math. I have a master's degree in education from Georgia State University.

Algebra 2

I have taught multiple levels of math for 27 years, including algebra II. I find the most rewarding part of my work to be one-on-one instruction. I have achieved a lot of success with it. I find that taking the time to listen to a student and then taking the time to make sure that the student understands makes all the difference. I especially enjoy the challenge of working with students who do not have a great deal of confidence in their abilities in math. I have a master's degree in education from Georgia State University.

Biology

I have taught science for 27 years at multiple levels, including biology. I find the most rewarding part of my work to be one-on-one instruction. I have achieved a lot of success with it. I find that taking the time to listen to a student and then taking the time to make sure that the student understands makes all the difference. My major at the University of Michigan was biology and I have a master's degree in science education from Georgia State University.

Chemistry

I have taught chemistry for 27 years. I have had a great deal of success working one on one with students, which I find to be the most rewarding part of teaching. I especially enjoy the challenge of working with students who do not have a great deal of confidence in science. My bachelors degree from University of Michigan includes a minor in chemistry. I have a masters degree in science education from Georgia State University.

Physiology

I have taught science for 27 years at many different levels including physiology. I try to find out where a student is: What do you understand and where is it that you get lost? So we start there, using what a student does know in an interactive way, to make that connection. I majored in biology at the University of Michigan, with a concentration in biochemistry.

Prealgebra

I have taught multiple levels of math for 27 years, including pre-algebra.

Precalculus

I have taught multiple levels of math for 27 years, including precalculus. I find working one on one with students extremely rewarding and believe that students benefit greatly from the additional attention. I especially enjoy the challenge of working with students who do not have a great deal of confidence in their ability in math. I have a masters degree in education from Georgia State University.

Trigonometry

I have taught multiple levels of math for 27 years, including trigonometry. Trigonometry is the subject I have focused on most. I find working with students who do not have a great deal of confidence in their ability in math particularly rewarding. In my experience, working one on one with students is the key to success. I have a masters degree in education from Georgia State University.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
