I do not have a degree in Theology or Divinity.
I do have a prayer life and I study the bible. I wouldn't classify myself as a bible scholar, but I do take the time to study and show myself approved as the Word says.
I am in a ministry where I teach Sunday school, Membership class, and classes on Discipleship.
I am a Keller Graduate with a Master's degree in Public Administration concentrating on the Non-Profit Sector, and I completed my second Master's in Business Administration which is what my undergrad degree was in. As part of my work, I mentor / tutor young adults in entrepreneurship, and test prep (life license, and career development.
I favor a "hands-on" approach to teaching that involves a lot of interaction between the tutor and student, and concrete experiences. I try to explain the subject matter in a very easy-to-understand way. I have tons of real world examples that allows me to explain many subjects from different angles. However, my specific methods vary according to the subject being taught and the learning style of the student.
Career development is a broad area. I have 20+ years' experience in helping with resume preparation, interviewing, and job search.
I currently run a non-profit where reentry is the program where we help those coming out of jail reacclimate themselves to society.
Different employers seek different things. I enjoy helping people that are seeking to change their lives for the better.
Organizations large and small rely on Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations to get the job done. I have been using Microsoft applications since 1983 and have trained on each upgrade throughout the years. Be it self application or company driven training, I've kepy abreast of all changes. Although Outlook is often used mainly as an email application, I also use the calendar, task manager, contact manager, note taking, journal to keep record of appointments and any notes that come from those meetings.
I've been working with Microsoft applications for 25+ years. They have evolved over time, but the concept is the same. The Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access, and Visio) are essential to my day-to-day operations.
At work, I am responsible for speaking to a group of Junior Achievement students in a structured, deliberate manner intended to inform, influence, or entertain them.
Our goal it to prepare and challenge them to begin their life journey in education and show them the different career choices in professional services.
One of the methods used to teach the students is by having them do what we call "job shadow". Attention is given to development of these fundamental skills:
• To gain confidence (conquer the fear of or control the public speaking/dramatic situations
• To understand the impact of purpose, occasion, and audience;
• To develop basic concepts in speech and drama which include adequate volume, pitch, variety, and varied rate, gestures, body movement, and eye contact;
• To use the body and voice expressively;
• To express character through movement and voice; and
• To use standard grammar and mature diction which includes a clarity of enunciation and expression.
I have been processing taxes for the past 20 years. Individual and small businesses.
In the early years, I worked for HR Block, but I now have tax clients that I service yearly.
I also volunteer in the VITA program each year which helps those in the community unable to afford a tax preparer.
