Certified English Teacher Looking to Tutor Reading and Writing

To Those Who Wish For English Help,

I've been a writing tutor/English teacher for the past ten years. I decided on teaching after working in tutoring centers during college. I found it exhilarating helping others reach a moment of inspiration. I still do. Although, I am not currently teaching, each morning I wake up with new ideas to explore with my future students; perhaps, this will be the day that we will determine whether Agamemnon or Hector was the hero of The Iliad? It’s why I love the job- delving into the world of literature, opening doors for young minds to peek into, or hopefully, walk through.

When I decided in college to become a teacher, it was because I wanted to reach those students who sit in class everyday, forgotten. I decided to use my own experiences as a student to align my goals. I would be the sort of teacher who was memorable, and who, in turn, could call the students by name. Tutoring allows me the time to get to know students on a one-on-basis and to really focus on what they personally need. I love tutoring and assisting students in any way that I can. Although, I do not do their homework for them!

I have a lot to offer students, and watching them improve is as rewarding to me as it is inspirational. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing my own passion for learning take root in the hearts and minds of my charges. I am eager to begin this process anew.

Study Skills

I have been a teacher and tutor for the past ten years. As a high school English teacher, I guided classes in passing the state reading and writing tests.
