Hello Potential Students and Parents!
My name is Ty. I am a former private school teacher of seven years and mom of two boys. I hold a BA from Brenau University in liberal studies. I am currently enrolled in graduate school as a candidate for a masters of arts in teaching specializing in special education. I have passed the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators, Basic Skills and Special Education General Curriculum. I am currently studying for the Special Education Content Area test to become certified in middle grades language arts, reading and social studies.
I am also currently a substitute teacher for three counties (City of Decatur, Fulton, and Gwinnett County Schools) with my experience ranging from K-12. I believe that children learn best when learning is made fun! My individualized instruction will build self confidence, and achieve the results needed for success!
I have been a tutor for two years now. I have been instrumental in the diagnosis of children (ADD, ADHD, and Autism) with special needs by recognizing symptoms and referring parents through the right channels within their schools systems. I will work with your child's teacher to address your child's challenges, as I design my lesson plans around your child's classroom lesson plans. The sessions will also focus on homework help and developing more effective study skills.
I currently tutor elementary students in all subjects and all special needs areas. In January 2014, I will start opening up more time slots, so please contact me ASAP as these spaces are filling up quickly.
I live in the Tucker/Decatur area, preferably at Starbucks or the Decatur and Tucker libraries, although I am open to discussing alternative locations. My hourly rates are very reasonable, and negotiable, so please contact me and we can discuss your child's needs!
