Hi my name is Tom. I hold BS, MA, and Specialist degrees in education.

I have used these degrees for 20-plus years teaching students in elementary school through college. I also have many years of experience in the education administrative fields. I have served in the capacity of Math and Science Coach, Assistant Principal, Principal,and Assistant Superintendent.

My main areas of expertise lie in Math and Sciences. I am however, highly qualified to tutor in Study Skills and Test Preparation for the CRCT, ACT, and SAT.

As a tutor for your child, I am dedicated to their academic improvement and success. I recognize and accept that each child has their own learning style. I will individualize my tutoring approach based on your child's needs. I pride myself in being very patient and maintaining an upbeat atmosphere of encouragement. I believe this approach builds a strong (can-do)attitude that leads to your child's academic success.

ADD/ADHD

I have taught special needs students in areas of ADD/ADHD in all grade levels for over 8 years. I am fully certified in this area in the state of Georgia.
I have had much success in developing an individualized teaching method for ADD/ADHD students and helping them achieve their goals.

Aspergers

I have taught in the special RESA program in Georgia for students that have psychiatric/severe special needs including aspergers, autism, bi-polar for more than 8 years. The grade levels include grades 4 thru 12. I have developed special individualized programs for each of these special needs students. These classes were self contained with no more than 8 students in the class.

Autism

I have taught students with autism, aspergers, and other special needs in the Georgia Resa program for more than 8 years. In addition, I have developed and implemented special individualized instructional programs for each of my students. Also, each of my students have been able to achieve many of their life goals as a result of my teachings. I have developed a special trust and bond with each of my students which is primary basis for my success with them.

Dyslexia

I have taught Dyslexia students at both the middle and high school levels. More specifically, I have taught Dyslexia students in the RESA Phycho Educational Program in Georgia for 5 years. These students ranged in age from 10 to 17.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a certified teacher in Georgia prek-6 in all subjects. I have taught in elementary school for 10 years. My BS degree is in elementary education as well as my Master's. In addition, I also hold a post graduate degree as Educational Specialist.

Phonics

I am a certified teacher in PreK-5 and have taught language arts including phonics for 10 years. In addition I have taught reading and phonics in middle school for 8 years. All of my teaching includes reading, English, and language arts.

Public Speaking

I have a masters degree in education and have minored in Public Speaking.In my positions as math/science coach,Executive Director of Employee Relations, and Assistant Supt., I have been responsible for all in service training programs. I have made hundreds of speaking engagements before adults, students,parents, and school boards. In addition,I have trained students on how to make presentations before their peers and professors. I have performed thee activities for more than 20 years.

Special Needs

I have taught in the RESA psychiatric/special needs program in Georgia for 8 years. These students were all diagnosed with one of the following: Asperger's, autism, bi-polar, split personality, ADD, ADHD as well other unique disorders. My students ranged from 4th through 12th grade. Most of my students read at least 3-4 below their grade level. I also developed special curriculum for each of my students as well as an IEP.

Study Skills

I have a masters degree in education and have taught students how to study and prepare for all types of exams, in all subjects including for state and national exams. In adddition I have tutored hundreds of students preparing for the ACT and SAT entrance exams. I have taught these study skills for more than 20 years as an educator.
