Hi and thank you for visiting my site. I am a GA, CA, and IL certified elementary teacher. I have taught in both public and private schools. I taught first, third, fourth, and fifth grade. I have worked at a Title One school in IL where my sole job was to bring students to grade level reading and writing. I realized how many students find learning difficult because they were unable to read. I wanted them to have freedom in learning and to be confident in who they are by helping them to read. I am now a Reading Specialist and love to help students learn to read, spell, increase vocabulary skills, and write with confidence. I also love helping students with Dyslexia. I believe all students can learn and succeed in any academic subject. I use hands-on manipulatives in reading, math, grammar, and other subjects. Students have various ways of learning and as a tutor, I adjust my teaching methods accordingly. I love getting to know my students and enjoy learning from them, too! Tutoring a student, whether in a group or one on one, gives me an opportunity to work with students giving them my undivided attention.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

I am a born again believer. I am a Precept Leader from the ministry of Kay Arthur. I have led many adult Bible studies. I have taught children's Sunday School class, Vacation Bible School, Awana, and was a youth leader. Teaching the word of God is very important and should be taught with all clarity that comes from the Lord, alone!

Dyslexia

I have worked with students who have Dyslexia. I am currently training to be certified in teaching Dyslexic students. I know students who struggle with Dyslexia can improve significantly with proper training and help. Dyslexia is not something that has to hinder anyone from what they want to do!

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a certified teacher in in K-6. I have taught all subjects for 6 years. I love teaching and helping students learn. I specialize especially in Reading and Language Arts. I, also, teach math. I use a lot of hands on manipulatives to help student understanding.

Reading

I am a Reading Specialist. I have my MA in teaching Language Arts and Literacy and a Reading Certificate. I have worked for Title One schools where I have assessed students, evaluated students, and implemented interventions that helped them reach their grade level in reading. I have also been Reading First trained. I am trained in teaching students with Dyslexia. I am Orton-Gillingham trained. I am aware of all the stages of reading development and will be able give students the required skill to help them become successful.

Great Tutor! — My son fought and fought and did NOT want to have to see a tutor. But now he says this is his favorite way to learn! If that's not the best thing you can hear, I don't know what is! He's making great progress too! ...
