I am a Georgia certified teacher. I am certified to teach Spanish and English as a second language. I am experienced in teaching online and am experienced in the areas of Social Studies, English, Reading, Writing, Study
Skills, and Science. I have also prepared many students for success in passing the Georgia graduation tests and End of Course tests as well as the SAT and ACT writing and English tests.

I give instruction based on the learning styles of the individual student and the Georgia State Standards of the classes of the student. I have a large knowledge base of resources and skills to enable students to have academic success. I am able to help students enrolled in honors and AP courses as well as those who have difficulties in learning. My goal is to give students the tools and knowledge that will give them the confidence to be successful in learning and attaining their personal goals. I use material prepared for taking the test as well as material in the students' current courses that may be on the test. I will help you get the results that you want and need to achieve your post-secondary goals.

ADD/ADHD

I have 19+ years of experience in helping students with ADD/ADHD learn to choose effective coping skills to excel in their coursework and feel the success and self-confidence that comes with feeling in control of their ability to learn. By applying time management and alternative learning strategies, classroom instruction and study at home will become easier and much more efficient.

We will also study the writing of persuasive essays as well as others types of essays. ESL/ESOL

I have taught English, Reading, Science, and Social Studies for more than 19 years as a Spanish, Reading, and ESOL teacher, as well as in facilitating online learners in the classroom. I am proficient in using the nationally accepted ACCESS scores and other assessments to identify the level of the learner as well as their strengths and weaknesses. My lessons are prepared by interpreting the results of all previously-taken tests and speaking to the student and parents (for school age children) about the students' strengths and weaknesses. In the study of the history of the political science and economics of the United States students are to be provided with a basic background and the critical thinking skills necessary for them to become effective and productive citizens of the world. Students are able to learn of the history their government as a way and means of developing their own sense of civic duty that comes with understanding the way in which our government functions and relates to them on a personal level.

Grammar

I have taught English grammar for more than 19 years as a Spanish, Reading, and ESOL teacher for grades 3-12, as well as facilitating online learners in the classroom. We will study all of the types of essays as writing of persuasive essays for future standardized tests.

I love to read and I am always excited to share my enthusiasm with my students!

Spanish

I studied Spanish as a second language at Kennesaw State and Georgia State Universities as well as in Spain and Mexico. I love Spanish! I have taught Spanish in Georgia in grades K-12 for more than 19 years. I have a valid Georgia certificate. My experience in teaching Spanish includes creating and implementing lesson plans to include grammar and writing instruction with an emphasis on listening skills, speaking, and reading. For students who have previous experience in Spanish Language studies I will analyze the textbook used and core standards for the language level as well as previous assessments or my own pretest for the student and I to set goals and a checklist for learning. I use authentic materials as well as online resources to help students become proficient in the use of the Spanish language.

Study Skills
