I have 14 years of tutoring experience, have taught college level chemistry classes for 8 years, and have received college-wide awards for my teaching methods. I was awarded the outstanding teaching award at my first college, and have been nominated for a similar award each year (2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011) in my current position.
My tutoring methods are essentially similar to the teaching methods I use in my college classes. Tutoring is only effective if the student comes to class prepared, with specific questions that they are having trouble with. Otherwise, a a tutoring session turns into a lecture and becomes so much less efficient. The key is to maximize efficient student - tutor contact time, so that the student gets the most out the time they are paying for!
Although chemistry is the discipline in which I have most experience, I also have tutoring experience in Algebra, Spanish, Proofreading and English, and will be happy to tutor in any of these areas!
