I am a creative writer and a certified English educator with a passion for helping others develop their talents and reach their full potential. I hold a bachelor of arts in English and creative writing and a master of arts in teaching English and literature from Georgia College & State University. I especially love working with children and helping people with their academic and creative writing projects. I have several years of experience in tutoring school-age children as well as preparing pre-school age children for entering pre-k and kindergarten. Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Cooking

I am an adept cook, and I am excellent at explaining seemingly complicated concepts in simple terms. I can teach how to bake, marinate, roast, saute, stir-fry, boil, braise, caramelize, simmer --there's not much I can't do as long as I have a general idea of where to start from. Learning how to cook all begins with understanding how different flavors work together and knowing how to put them together.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have over two years of experience specifically working with elementary-age children on reading, writing, science, basic math, and social studies.

Needlework

I can teach basic needlework in the following areas: cross-stitching, embroidery, hemming, hand-sewing, tacking, and following a pattern.

Phonics

I have worked at length with pre-school and young school-age children on the building blocks of reading. As a linguist, I'm able to use the experience i have working with and understanding the phonemic alphabet to help children better understand how symbols connect to sounds.
