As an advocate of excellence in education, I have spent years studying techniques that enable students to be successful learners. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in in English and a Master of Science in Secondary Education. I have also completed 39 hours of graduate level English courses which has added to my breadth and experience in composition and literature.
My academic experiences as an undergraduate and graduate student have enabled me to:
•Appreciate the challenges and rewards of educating students
•Effectively use technology
•Practice effective student-centered teaching
I have been a stay at home mom for the past 15 years. During this time, I have had the privilege to nurture two premature infants with special needs. I am proud to say that through hard work and dedication those small babies grew into happy and healthy children. Now, at 13 and 15 years old, they are a constant reminder of the unlimited potential children possess and how this potential can be fulfilled when they have an advocate. It is my steadfast belief that every child can learn and succeed. I have received a passing score in Professional Education and English 6-12 for certification.
I enjoy teaching all forms of English. I am particularly effective with emergent readers and English as a second language. I am well versed in Shakespeare, American literature, and English literature. I accept students for homeschooling in English.
