"Experienced Educator" Spanish all levels and adults, K-6 all subjects

Teaching my native language, Spanish, is my greatest passion, and I am lucky enough to have made a career out of it. I believe that providing personalized attention to a student is beneficial to increase knowledge and motivation to succeed. In addition of being a Spanish and ESOL Teacher, study skills, reading and writing are the areas that I feel most comfortable teaching. I love tutoring one-on- one. I learned that way when I was younger and I believe I could help my students to be successful learners. I have a passion for teaching and I am sure that this service will benefit any student in his/her academic career. I have many skills and enough time for sharing.

I love to read and understand the reading process. I love cooking, gardening, listening music and decorating my house with plants. I am a caring and concerned individual. I am loving and consistent, firm yet nurturing with my students. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science with an Education Concentration from Ashford University and a Tourism Management degree from Colombia (my native home). I am willing to help my students in many other subjects.

I have worked with Head Start program and Georgia Pre-k, and my last 4 years in a self contained class (Autism) at Forsyth County School System.

I am available Mon- Fri in late afternoons and early evenings and Saturdays if need it.

Reading

I love teaching reading/ phonics skills at early age. And because students who are exposed to reading before preschool are more likely to do well in all facets of formal education, I would like to be part of that foundation. Engagement plays an important role in learning any subject. That is the way I feel when I teach my children phonics/ reading skills.

Elementary (K-6th)

My degree is in K-12 and I am experienced on elementary level for all subjects. I am able to teach the foundations for developing proficiencies in reading, writing, and oral communication by taking an approach to understanding the function of grammar, punctuation, capitalization, spelling and vocabulary.

Phonics

My degree is in K-12, and I am experienced on elementary level for all subjects. I am able to teach the foundations for developing proficiencies in reading, writing, and oral communication by taking an approach to understanding the function of grammar, punctuation, capitalization, spelling, and vocabulary. I use an educational alternative to teach children to read with phonics which motivates them with enthusiasm.

Study Skills

Since students demonstrate learning in a variety of ways, I teach the students the organizational skills and study habits that are not consistently taught in school settings. Good study habits are important for success in school, that is why study skills lesson plans were part of my credits from my degree in education and I apply those habits to all my students to become successful through out their education.
