My name is Dr. H. I have been teaching at the collegiate level for about fifteen years now. My courses include: logical and critical thinking, survey of philosophy, literature, classical issues, contemporary values, contemporary moral problems, history of ancient philosophy, history of modern philosophy, ethics, writing intensive courses, ESL/TESOL, world history, US history, social studies, social sciences, grammar and composition, and mathematics.
After many years of teaching college, I have decided to make a lateral move to secondary education. Hence, I am in the process of becoming a certified public school teacher. I have taken several education courses to increase my own edification, including exploring teaching and learning processes and curriculum and instruction. I am familiar with the standardized tests, e.g. CRCT, SSAT, SAT, ISEE, ACT, graduation/senior tests, etc., required to obtain a diploma. Furthermore, I took and passed the Praxis with high marks in the year 2007. I decided to re-examine my skill set and took the GACE in April of 2013. My GACE scores were: 295, 282, and 270--- math, reading comprehension, and writing respectively.
Throughout my college career, I served as a paid tutor for the Spelman College Learning Resources Center. I tutored a number of students in various fields: math, social sciences, writing, grammar, composition, reading, physical sciences, philosophy, psychology, sociology, history, study and organizational skills, etc.
I have also spent the last five years as a professional tutor. In addition, I have experience working with unique students is my specialty - positively ADHD, innovatively enthusiastic, creatively ADD, and fortunately special.
Most importantly, I am passionate about teaching students as well as learning with them. I have been told time and time again, “With your credentials, you can do anything.” I agree; nonetheless, teaching is the only thing that I want to do.
I wish to thank you for your time and consideration.
