Hello!

My name is Rachel!

I love kids! I was a first grade teacher, but decided to exclusively tutor. It involves everything I love about teaching and leaves all the bad behind. I want so much to help establish a great foundation for your children's future!

For some, learning has always come easily. Not for me. I was an average student. I struggled to memorize, grasp subjects, and apply principles. That all changed when I finally began learning how to learn. The study skills I adopted took me from an average student to a student of excellence. I believe it is this struggle that has created such an excellent teacher.

I specialize in language arts, reading, writing, and study skills. I can also tutor any subject in lower elementary, and would love to help your child excel!

I cannot wait to hear from you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

A good score on the ACT is essential for acceptance in a good school. Language arts is my area of natural expertise! I can teach it in a clear, understandable manner, and will help you understand the workings of the English language.

ACT Reading

Reading is a passion of mine, but it wouldn't be if I couldn't grasp the details hidden within the text. I can show you ways to improve your ACT score by opening up the world of better reading.

Bible Studies

I went to Pensacola Christian College, where I learned a great deal of the Bible. I have a deep love for the stories in the Bible and the wisdom this wonderful book contains.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have an undergraduate degree in Youth Ministries, with an education emphasis. I have taught first grade and tutored children from kindergarten through fourth grade.

Phonics

I studied teaching phonics in college, taught phonics as a first grade teacher, and have tutored phonics with the definitive belief that phonics is the only good foundation for reading.

Proofreading

Proofreading comes naturally to me as language arts has always been my natural scholarly pursuit. I actually enjoy finding the little things that need improving.

Reading

Reading is a passion of mine, but it wouldn't be if I couldn't grasp the details hidden within the text. I can show you ways to open the world of better reading. A lifetime of adventures await you!

SAT Reading

Reading is a passion of mine, but it wouldn't be if I couldn't grasp the details hidden within the text. I can show you ways to improve your SAT score by opening up the world of better reading.

Study Skills

For some, learning has always come easily. Not for me. I was an average student. I struggled to memorize, grasp subjects, and apply principles. That all changed when I finally began learning how to learn. The study skills I adopted took me from an average student to a student of excellence. I believe it is this struggle that has created such an excellent teacher. I would love to pass on these study skills to others!

Writing

While I was in school, the entire class would groan as the teacher included a paper in the requirements of the course. I was one of the few who smiled with excitement. Papers were always a large part of the grade, and I always got A's. Let me share this amazing ability with you. I promise it will take you far beyond your college years into writing resumes, important emails, and even love letters! Let me change your life!

A good essay should begin with an attention-grabber, move into a thesis statement, which is supported throughout the body of the paper, and the thesis statement and various interesting parts from the body of the paper should be rephrased to draw everything to a natural close.
