Coming from a large family of teachers, Education is one of the most important aspects of life. Knowledge is something no one can take from you. With knowledge, there is the power to succeed in all things you desire.
I have been involved with teaching and nurturing people of all ages from Birth to Seniors, most of my life.
I love people especially the youth and their energy and desire to learn.
I started in Girl Scout as a Brownie and stayed through to Senior Scouts. It was only natural for me to become a Girl Scout Leader, my first year after college and have been a leader and/or involved with scout troops on and off ever since.
I also became a Big Sister in the BB/BS program in 1983 and had Little Sisters in both Iowa and Indiana from 1983-current. By current I mean that I am still in contact with my Little Sisters and their families.
As a single mother of a 3 yr old daughter it only seemed to be the perfect match for me to become a Mentor to a Teen Mother in a Teen Mother Mentoring program through the Coalition of 100 Black Women in Bridgeport, CT, in 1990. I still keep in touch with my Mentee and her family and friends.
I taught Electronics for 2 years at Bullard Havens Technical High School in Bridgeport, CT. While there, it appeared clear to me that my place was to be a mentor/counselor/role model/advisor for not only my students, but for their friends, family and any other young people that may cross my path and can benefit.
To do this I needed to go back to my Engineering career, where the salary afforded me better resources to do this.
I love Engineering and the challenges that I encounter on a daily basis, but I also like teaching and helping people to get through the maze of life and living.
My daughter is in her Senior year at GA State and does not live at home now, which gives me time to help others.
I have been sewing for 40+ years. I have made everything from bathing suits, to mens 3 piece suits, formal gowns (prom, brides maid, etc) and 1 wedding dress. I also have a lot of patience with training people, which is needed with sewing.
I have been swimming since before I could walk. My mother was a life guard and swim instructor and taught my brothers and I to swim very young. I have worked both as a Life Guard and a Swim Instructor for ages infant to adult. I have been certified by the Red Cross for Lifesaving and Water Safety Instructor. I love children and love to teach. I have also been involved as a teacher/mentor for Grade School through High School. If you are interested, please contact me. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Great personality. — Cynthia was a good teacher, willing to go over anything and everything I needed. She did refresh my memory and I enjoyed getting back to sewing. If I need more help I will not hesitate to call her. ...
