Bruce breaks the subjects/material down to where it is totally understood. Bruce is patient and teaches in a way that anyone who's not getting it "will" get it. I couldn't have picked a better tutor for my son, who in the beginning had no understanding of the subject at all. He was stressing and afraid of failing Physics. Bruce tutoring style is so excellent until now my son understands the subject/material. The feeling of failing the subject has dissipated all together.
I started out poorly in the first quarter of the semester, only achieving "D's" and lower, but after taking Bruce on as my tutor I finally excelled. He... is unrealistically good at his craft. He dismantles every subject and then puts it all back together in an 'easy to read/follow/study' format. He really is easy-going and will stick with you if additional help if needed. I had difficulty understanding basic physics, my instructor gave me the impression that he only had a degree in 'teaching'--nothing specific--, and I needed help. If you are feeling like you can't do ANYTHING at all, Bruce will prove you wrong. He'll get you to where you need to be quicker and faster than anyone, but he'll do it in a way that ensures your understanding is solid. He teaches in a way that best suits your ability to understand or comprehend. You will leave each session with all your questions answered, understanding everything above all else. The "A" on my final exam is proof that his method is best method!!!! Seek this man out if you need the help!!!!
Thank you, Bruce!
Wow! I am blushing here! But, Paul gets all the applause as he worked really hard, paid attention, asked great questions, and practiced a LOT. Awesome student!!
Your last lesson with my son Eamon was in 2013...so I'm not sure you remember him, but I wanted to give you an update on his academic successes. Eamon is finishing up his 4th semester at UGA next week and it looks like his string of straight A's will continue. This includes a semester in France, an internship in Dublin and TWO math classes!! Eamon is double majoring in French and International Relations and will probably graduate after the next academic year. This means he will graduate from UGA in just 3 years...and is moving on to grad school. I'm writing this because I honestly feel that you instilled a sense of confidence in Eamon that other math teachers/tutors missed. You knew he could do well in math and you made Eamon believe it. This confidence trickled over into other areas of Eamon's academic development. Thank you for your part in Eamon's success and I wish you luck in all you do.

I wanted to add an addendum to the note above.
My son just graduated as an Honors Grad. This year we once again engaged the services of Bruce to assist with trigonometry. The final result? My son ended up with a 100% overall grade in the class. My son now knows he can do math...and is no longer afraid of it. Thank you Bruce for your assistance over the last two years!!

My daughter in college needed help with an online math class and Bruce came to her rescue with a great Skype lesson. My daughter was very impressed with his computer knowledge and how well the lesson went. She made another appointment for the final exam. Thanks Bruce.
This is the first time my son gets math. We have tried other tutors, but Bruce understands Cody. Thanks so much for all you have done to help him. Now we need to add his little sister to your list of clients.
My son's first session with Bruce went very well. Bruce is very knowledgeable, backed by many years of teaching experience. He easy to work with and seems to connect well with my son - at their first meeting itself.
Overall, we are happy to have Bruce as my son's Math tutor and would like to continue this engagement. Hope this turns out to be highly beneficial for my son in the long run.
Bruce - lastly, thanks for your kind words regarding us and our son.
Bruce has been fantastic with our son who was totally not in favor of a tutor. Last night our son said "he is a genius and really helping me!" Thank you Bruce as you are making such a difference in our son's school work. I love how positive you are in your comments with him. Thank you!
Thank you for your flattering feedback, but really I am NOT a genius. Take a look at my blog, here at WyzAnt, where I share My Big Secret. There's a good reason I'm able to help a LOT.
Very glad I was able to help your son see the light so quickly. He's bright - he got it.
So, keep me posted, please.
I couldn't have asked for a better tutor! Our experience with Bruce has been excellent and very positive. He has been highly motivated to teach as much as he could related to physics and math in a short period of time. He is very caring, patient, professional and always well prepared for the sessions. I highly recommend Bruce!
It is so encouraging to see the next generation has such outstanding young men.
N. has it all and will be successful in whatever future he cares to build. Awesome!!
Bruce is an excellent tutor, leaving our daughter with pages of notes and formulas that she needed to understand physics. He has a warm sense of humor and it was a great session. We are looking forward to the next one!
My second lesson was excellent, fabulous, perfect, more than I thought it could ever be! This man knows his stuff and knows how to teach you the tricks to getting motivated and to get going in learning your language much faster.
We continue to be thrilled with the support that Mr. Bruce is providing to our daughter. She was a fairly difficult student at first, because she prides herself on doing everything on her own, which until now has worked. However, moving mid-term to a new state, and with it a new school, new subjects and new teaching styles was a difficult transition. In spite of being a very bright young woman, she was for the first time in her academic career struggling with advanced math. This difficultly was quickly eating away at her confidence.
Mr. Bruce's approach and patience engaged her almost immediately and has provided her with the tools to reason through the material successfully. He was able to convince her that even though the material was challenging it was not beyond her ability to understand. This was a pretty significant accomplishment and proof that he is a gifted educator. He is completely capable (and effective) in both face-to-face sessions as well as in using webinar (and Skype) sessions, which is handy for last-minute sessions.
She went from nearly failing the course to getting an A as her mid-term grade!
We would highly recommend him to any parent and student.
I am humbled by your feedback and don't really know how to reply.
I can only say a big thank you for allowing me to help D. find the success she so richly deserves.
I contacted Bruce to help my daughter in her senior calculus class - it had been a while since her Algebra class, so she had forgotten a lot of what she had previously learned, and the teacher was not explaining things in a way that she could understand. Bruce responded to my initial contact very quickly AND was able to meet with my daughter the very next day to help her prepare for a quiz. My daughter was very comfortable with Bruce, and she said he explained things well, was patient, and adapted his style to her learning methods so she was able to understand the material. Her quiz score was 102, the second highest in the class!! My daughter is actually excited about working with Bruce again and is not so stressed about her calculus class knowing that she has the help she needs. We will definitely be using Bruce in the future!!
My son is now in the 11th grade and has been struggling with math since the beginning of high school. Bruce has been tutoring my son since July of this year and to my amazement my son has a full understanding every time he is tutored. I asked my son last night the difference between Bruce and his other teachers and he said that Bruce makes it easy because he teaches shorter steps to get the answer. Last night I contacted Bruce to help my son prepare for a test today and he showed up. I was very grateful that despite the fact that it was late he showed up with a smile to help. And now my son can walk into the classroom today with confidence. Bruce has been a pleasure and I highly recommend his services.
I wish we had met him before, my daughters grade has gone from a low C to a stable B. If we had met him before, I am sure she would have made an A. In less than a month her confidence has majorly boosted. I recommend him to others with no hesitation.
Eva has an excellent attitude. Isn't it funny how kids give more respect to outsiders? Guess what - most kids are like that! You can be very proud of her as she will be very successful.
Mr. Bruce is an excellent math teacher and helped my son with his Calculus. He provided regular (after each session) feedback to the parents, was always available for any questions/suggestions and very flexible with the schedule. A teacher with genuine interest in the students.
And our online sessions were simply outstanding. Your son challenged me many times with really unusual problems - but we figured them all out and he was there every step of the way. Fabulous young man - even if he did say, "Yes, sir" a thousand times and make me think I was OLD! Imagine that!!
This tutor goes out of his way to meet the student on their level. Finding out what their needs are and how he can reach them best. His use of technology with the on-line sessions appeals well to my technology savy teenager, but even these sessions are conducted in such a way as to give the student the personal touch they need. Having the ability to fit in lessons when both parties are available and be flexible with session times without requiring travel on either side is another advantage of these on-line sessions.
Very innovative approach to tutoring.
It is such a pleasure to work with your daughter. Her great attitude assures her future success.
We covered a ton of material that will be necessary to achieve my stated goals. Bruce completely understands what I am attempting to accomplish and has the knowledge and wisdom to get me to where I want to be. Two hours flew by; seemed like 15 minutes!
Our son has tried various tutors for math but Mr Bruce seems to fit his personality well and understands better our son's specific areas of need for improvement. He is very energetic and encouraging in his teaching style. We only wish he could tutor some other subjects as well.
Mr Bruce seems to be very much in demand and very busy driving from one to another student's home keeping his commitment. He always find time for us.
I want to thank Bruce N. for being an excellent tutor for my son in Physics and also being concerned for him to learn and guide him step by step. Bruce has accommodated my son's schedule even on late evenings which I appreciate, and responds always in a very short time either by text or calling. I am so pleased that I already requested him to help my daughter who is moving to high school and sooner or later will have physics also. Great Tutor!
George was a lot of fun to work with. He has a very sporting and competitive edge which drove him forward through the problems. Great job - well done.
I talked to R Bruce on Sunday. On Sunday night, I found out my son had a major Math exam on Wednesday. I emailed Bruce and he met with my son for 2.5 hours on Tuesday. My son was very impressed and no one impresses my quiet son. We are going to keep him. Thanks Bruce!!!
My son has gone from 65-68 to 90- great work Bruce!
Like I said yesterday, it is an enormous pleasure to see such a major shift in attitude bringing awesome results so fast!! Fabulous!!
Bruce is a very dynamic, creative and persistent Tutor. In just 3 days I did an impressive progress.
To study with Bruce is not boring but a quite pleasure.
You are very kind. When a student has your high level of energy and determination to learn English, it becomes a great pleasure and a lot of fun. You are outstanding!!
Didn't know if on-line tutoring would be difficult and as effective as face-to-face. Well, I'm pleased to share that Bruce is so knowledgeable and capable of imparting tough concepts with ease that he and my daughter hit it off great in this format. He insists on the student understanding EVERYTHING that is reviewed before session ends so there is no doubting. My daughter finds this format convenient, effective and after several A's, her new B average has her feeling more confident in this subject.
Bruce has been such a pleasant man to have in our home to tutor my 16 year old son. Unfortunately, his teacher at school has not taught him much this year but my son says an hour with Bruce is worth more than a week in his classroom.
He's a great kid and holds up his end in spite of the arm bothering him so much. Rock solid attitude makes him a winner!!
Robert N. was a great help to our son, who had set a deadline to finish his distance learning Physics 12th grade class. Robert stepped in at the last moment when his existing tutor could not assist him. He was very thorough and professional and helped our son finish his course on time. He obviously had a good level of knowledge and understanding and a great manner as well. He was responsive at all times and worked at very short notice. We were absolutely delighted with the way he stepped up and will come back to WyzAnt in the future because of his approach.
It's young folks like your son that make it all so worth while. He is dedicated, energetic, focused, and so willing to go the extra mile to get it done. And he did it! Great job - great kid !!
Now, I can say to my friends that I knew him before he became world famous!
Bruce has been a great addition to my daughter's math experience. He is very patient and knows how to get the best from each class. His way of teaching has been very significant to help my daughter to improve her math grades and her perception of math. Now she looks forward to meet with her tutor and work hard. Thank you Bruce!
I have had the pleasure of working with Bruce for several months now and he has been a tremendous teacher teaching me the Portuguese language. With his help, teaching style and guidance, I have been able to learn, speak and use a new language for business trips that have sincerely helped in my ability to succeed in my role.
My only regret is not having more time to spend learning from him.
Trust me - he is an excellent teacher, use him!!
Bruce has recently began tutoring on-line. At first I didn't think it would work as well as tutoring in person, but it is just as effective. It takes less than 30 seconds to begin the tutoring session. The best part of on-line tutoring is that the parent doesn't have to be home. Bruce identifies weaknesses fast and then makes quick and easy adjustments so the student can understand the process of solving equations. My son enjoys his sessions with Bruce because he makes learning fun. A unique and great tutor that has given both me and my son peace of mind. If you need a great tutor online or in person Mr. Bruce is the one to pick. He is funny and makes it a fun tutoring time, he helped me from doing very poorly in math to a 96!!!
Bruce is the best tutor I have ever used for my children. My youngest son was struggling with Algebra and had gotten a 56 on a major test. Luckily, he was able to retake the test, but I had no idea how I was going to be able to get him help within the time I needed it by. I emailed Bruce through the WyzAnt message service and he replied within 30 minutes! That is simply unheard of. Bruce was able to come to my home to tutor my son within 2 days. Bruce was so good with him and really gave my son the confidence that he needed to understand the work. My son retook the test the next day and he got a 96! Wow! He is thrilled and so are we! We will be setting up a regular tutoring schedule with Bruce from now on. Thanks again!
We were looking for a tutor for our daughter and contacted Bruce based on his very positive feedback on this site. He was very quick to respond! He contacted us letting us know he had a cancellation and we were excited to meet him. Our interaction with Bruce prior to meeting him was wonderful - very professional, very kind and very prompt. After my daughter's session, we were even more impressed!! Bruce definitely has a gift! It takes a special person to have an almost 16 year old, shy girl, excited about math on a Friday after school! He is extremely personable and knows how to engage kids and teach them in a way they understand. We were having dinner that night and loved hearing our daughter say that she couldn't believe she actually wanted to do math problems on a Friday night! We are looking forward to continuing our sessions with Bruce and would highly recommend his services! Many thanks, Bruce!
It's great kids getting that light-bulb experience that makes it all worth while. Great pleasure to share some time with you. Thank you.
My daughter has now completed several weeks of tutoring in Trigonometry with Bruce. She continues to improve her test grades in class and has gained a great amount of confidence from her work with Bruce. Bruce breaks down the roadblocks and ensures she understands the basics so that she can continue to improve. My daughter has done both in-home and on-line tutoring and we are equally pleased with both. The on-line is just as effective and makes it easier on everyone without having to worry about being somewhere at a certain time. In addition to Bruce's excellent tutoring, he also is very good about accommodating changes and working with a student's schedule when necessary. Anyone with a teenager knows how challenging and constantly changing their schedules can be, so this is a definite life saver. I highly recommend Bruce to anyone seeking tutoring - you won't be disappointed!
It was a great pleasure to help such a fine young lady. She has an excellent attitude and I am confident she'll be very successful. Thank you for the heart-warming feedback.
Bruce was really great with my student. He explained the Calculus so he can get it. Things that teachers have left out Bruce explained so my student can grasp the work. Thanks for a great start. Wish I had done this sooner.
He will be fine. He just needs help to connect some dots for him. Great pleasure to see him smile when he gets the ideas.
Bruce tutors my son in Algebra I. He is very positive and encouraging in approach, and my son finds each session to be very helpful. I have seen a significant improvement in my son's confidence and self-motivation, which has resulted in much improved test grades in Algebra over the time Bruce has worked with him.
My 10th grade son has been struggling and doing quite poorly in math for the past couple of years. This year just seemed to finally put him over the edge, so we decided to look for a tutor. After searching through several of the tutor profiles on WyzAnt, we decided to give Bruce a try. I am so glad we did! After just 2 lessons, my son already seems more confident in his math abilities. I am looking forward to seeing his grades go up!
Bruce has a busy schedule, but can still squeeze you in at the last minute, which was a saving grace to us last week. We found out Wednesday that my son had a big test on Friday, and Bruce made sure he found the time to come help him prepare. He is patient and is able to explain math in easy terms so it "makes sense". By the time the tutoring session ended Thursday evening, my son was so excited because he finally understood the material. When Bruce left, my son continued to work on problems (where he could double check answers in the back of the book) and I kept hearing him say "BAM! Got that one right!". I have NEVER seen him like that. Thank you Bruce!
You're very kind. Your son's success makes it all so well worth while. Thank you!
Bruce was great with my sons. He provided the help and understanding they needed to get through their assignments. He made things plain and related examples to everyday life for the boys to understand. Thank you Bruce and I look forward to working with you in the future.
My son is a senior in high school and needed some extra help with trigonometry as well as ACT preparation. We have been very lucky to find a tutor who has been able to assist with both needs. He is extremely knowledgeable and able to break down the material to make it easier to understand. My son is, like most teenagers, very busy with a hectic schedule and Bruce has been so flexible and very accommodating. He always has a positive attitude with encouraging words and we have been very fortunate to get the assistance we were looking for.
Your son is a great young man. I really enjoy working with him and he's doing great with online classes. For sure, you are VERY proud of him.
My daughter felt the session was very helpful! I appreciated you fitting my daughter in your schedule at the last minute! She needed that time to better prepare her for her upcoming quiz. Thanks!
Last minute solutions -is the beauty of online classes. It is easy to click and join, but often impossible to face traffic and give a last-minute class. As always, it's a pleasure to help. Your daughter is outstanding!
My daughter needed help with Precalulus and we scheduled an online session with Bruce. She found the session very helpful and Bruce made sure that she understood everything completely before moving on. Bruce is a very patient tutor and comes highly recommended. Thank you Bruce.
I am so pleased the class helped her.
You can see I enjoy it when students get that "ha-ha" moment and b-o-o-m all the lights go on!
"Luv it" as they say.
My daughter is in AP Physics and had a pending test that she felt completely unprepared for. Bruce came to our house twice and put her back on track quickly, she was one of four kids that got an A on that test. His teaching style is great, she was so pleased on how he explained things so they made sense.
Mr. Bruce has my gratitude for not only working with my daughter on her physics problems for 165 minutes straight- but did it on the same day that I contacted him (probably because he knew from my email I was in desperation mode!) I was amazed at how thoroughly and efficiently he went through 20 problems with her and made sure she was understanding the lesson. She now has formulas to relate to and study from to help her through her daily work when she is on her own. Even after one session she was in a different frame of mind knowing she had accomplished something that she has been totally frustrated with since she began school for the past month. I have asked Mr. Bruce to continue to tutor with her through this semester on a weekly basis so as I can be assured she will know she has someone that can help her through the challenging subject of physics. Many thanks to you again!
Your daughter is a fine lady with great spirit. She really wanted to get it and get it she did!!
Very enjoyable helping her and looking forward to a year of BIG success!
My daughter, 17yr old, struggled with Physics.
We found R Bruce N. online through WyzAnt, and she had her first session. She texted me and said, Bruce did a much better job at explaining Physics to her than her actual teacher at school!
Thank you so so much! For sure we will make use of Bruce once there is a bump in the Physics Road again!
I explain it the way I wish it had been explained to me when I was struggling in high school.
I know how it feels to struggle and this motivates me to find ways to make ideas and concepts so obvious that the student "gets it" and never forgets.
Mr Bruce is a very good tutor. He teaches my son AP Calculus and the feedback I got from him is quite impressive; he uses his wealth of experience to simply Mathematics. He is a busy instructor and scheduling may be tough.
Your son is a fine young man with a great attitude. Attitude helps enormously.
Bruce has a great personality and is very patient. My son said that he explained the AP Calculus work in a way that made it very understandable.
My daughter enjoyed working with Bruce. He made Physics look easy and broke down the concepts. She will be working with Bruce on a regular basis.
Thank you Mr. Bruce for being patient with my stepson. I really appreciate that you came in such a short notice. We will have your number on "speed dial" for the near future. Thank you!! Obrigado!!
My daughter loved her lesson time with Bruce. He broke down the concepts of Physics and helped it make sense to her. We plan on having him tutor her all year!
Bruce did a great job helping my son out of a sticky situation. My son's math grade had really dropped due to his inability to ask for help. Bruce was able to find the weak areas and reteach the math and was also able to teach my son how to ask for help when he needed it. Often during the tutor sessions I would hear my son say, Why didn't my math teacher explain it that way, now it makes sense. Thank you Bruce for your time and patience.
Mr. Bruce worked with our daughter in the area of Math. After her first lesson he told me she was almost two years behind. Since she was planning to start college in the fall we knew we needed help fast. She is smart, but due to a major surgery from a rare disease her studies were hindered during that time. Mr. Bruce helped my daughter to slowly begin to learn basic Math, Algebra 1 and 2 and then Trigonometry. Soon she could breeze through trig. She took a test for Math through the University System of Georgia and her score was one of the highest they had seen in a long time. I have to other boys who are doing well in school, but I will make sure Mr. Bruce is contacted and works with them if necessary. Also, because my daughter understands Math so well now, she is going to take the CLEP Exam for the entire first year of college math. If she passes that is great, if not I know she will be well prepared to handle whatever is thrown at her when it comes to math at college.
Great man, wonderful to work with, and I assure you he is well worth the money!
Really, your daughter deserves all the credit because she put in a LOT of hard work, self-discipline, and energy into her personal progress.
All I did was take all her fragments of math (rather like a jigsaw puzzle), show her the lid (with the overall picture) and help her build it.
She is VERY bright and picked it up in record time.
All kudos to her - and bright hopes for a brilliant future.
Mr. Bruce does a fantastic job of challenging my son to figure out the Physics concepts. It sounds like the two of them are having a discussion as opposed to a teaching lesson. I find this approach refreshing and it works for my son.
Bruce is an excellent tutor. My son really enjoys working with him. He makes problems easy understandable. In just 2 weeks I definitely see a difference in my son's mathematics skills. He is easily reachable and communicates with us on a regular basis. I give him an A plus.
We work as a team and great team members make g-r-e-a-t learners who can have fun "getting" it!
He was able to quickly assess my son's strengths and weaknesses to give him pointers to improve his performance. He seems to love to teach which is really important and made my son feel at ease with his humor.
You are very kind. Your son is a fine young man.
My son is a junior and has always struggled with math. As we know, in high school every point matters. Bruce helped my son pull out of a critical situation AND gave him confidence in his abilities. Bruce shares his own struggles as a young students and takes every opportunity to encourage. With his help, my son improved his math SAT and is actually feeling confident about his upcoming ACT.
Bruce was very friendly and eager to help. His explanations were strong and he worked to describe things in different ways to help make the conncetions. With regard to physics, his knowledge seems strong in the areas of practical and applied physics. Good tutoring experience, thanks Bruce!
Spent quality time teaching and using visual aids around the house to demonstrate how physics is applied. Very patient and courteous to the student and family.
In less than 2 hours time, Bruce was able to analyze my son's problems with math, and provide very helpful strategies to overcome long-term study habits. A very, very good tutor.
Bruce has done an outstanding job working with my son. Bruce's patience and skill as a teacher is paying off. My son is beginning to remember his math and is gaining confidence. What a wonderful tutor. Thank you.
Fabulous tutor. Bruce is making a difference in the way my son approaches math. My son is gaining confidence in his math abilities, and we owe it to Bruce.
Thank you for being so patient and encouraging with my son. He is gaining confidence. Thanks again.
I remain very, very pleased.
My son continues to make progress in his understanding of math and, more important, he is gaining confidence. Thank you so much.
I highly recommend Bruce N. He is very kind and has great tutoring skills. He came to our home to help my HS senior with her calculus class. If my other daughter ever needs a tutor when she is in high school, I will definitely call on him again! He is very honest and fair. A good person!
Bruce, it was a pleasure to meet you! Thank you for your help!
Thank you for your kind words.
I have already seen my son's grade come up, and in such a little amount of time. Can't wait to continue with Bruce to help my son learn and have confidence with class. He is most certainly a 5 star tutor.
We needed help at the last minute and we could not find any tutor on Sunday to come to tutor my daughter that was having a test the next day. But Mr. Bruce came to the rescue!! we really appreciated. He is a great and very patient tutor. I highly recommend him. I will definitely contact him again.
Made sure my son understood what was being taught, even if that meant staying a few minutes past his hour time slot.
Patient, easy to discuss math issues. Positive feedback. We will definitely use his services again. My son felt that the explanation of math problems and relaxed atmosphere made it easier to understand.
We are very pleased with Bruce with his unique combination of knowledge, wisdom and tutoring skills. Bruce was readily accepted by my reluctant to be tutored son on the very first day. He provides more than just tutoring service. He acts like a coach to impart his knowledge regarding the subject being tutored but provides a life lesson as well. You will be extremely satisfied with Bruce and his tutoring methods. Bruce provided excellent value for the requested tutoring rates.
We are giving him a five star rating.
Tutors are not just for children, adults need them too. Sometimes we are to afraid to ask for help.
Bruce has been so helpful to me and continues to be there for support and open to any assistance I need.
I recommend him so highly. Wonderful, wonderful tutor!
You're very kind. I heard your pain and just helped you.
Happy I was able to do it for you.
Bruce takes time to lecture my daughter and noted every area she is having problem, I can see him taking my daughter to the next level in math and science, thanks very much WyzAnt.
I would highly recommend him to anybody who is struggling in math or physics. I am so glad we found him through Wyzant.
You're very kind. It's a pleasure to help you.
My daughter likes Bruce very much, she wants him to teach her more. Bruce made it look easy, and he was very fun. She said she learned a lot.
I hired Bruce for my 10th grader about a month ago for gifted math and am very pleased with the results so far. Bruce is very patient and he doesn't just show her how to do her math, but he focuses mainly on getting her to understand the concepts. He breaks down the problem to the lowest denominator and goes from there. My daughter is finally able to grasp the concepts and is not as scared of Math as she was before. As far as the schedule goes, there were times when I had to reschedule at the last minute and he was very accommodating and was happy to work with me on our availability.
All in all, I am glad to have found him and I would highly recommend him.
Thank you for your kind words.
My daughter has always been an A student, but when she struggled with AP Physics her Junior year, we called Bruce to tutor her. With his help she is getting back on track. We appreciate his help and assistance in building up her self-confidence again.
My son and I were very impressed. Bruce was prepared for everything. He let my son do the work and then explain to him when corrections were needed. He had a lot of patience with him. At the end of class, he explained to us what would take place over the period of tutoring. I am really glad we decided to do this.
My son attends a military boarding school. I was in a predicament when he needed a tutor for math and I was 500 miles away. I found WyzAnt through a Google Search. Bruce was one of the first responders to my request for a tutor. His quick responsiveness, eagerness to help, and student reviews led me to choose him. In addition, I saw that he was certified in the subject area in which my son needed. Immediately after the tutoring session my son called and asked if he could come again. This coming from a 17 year old made me realize that Mr. N was the perfect match for my son! My son was excited about Pre-calculus. Mr. Bruce N is professional, but at the same time very personable. Thank you Bruce for your help!!
Bruce is a very professional tutor who really enjoys working with students. He worked with my 11th grade son in Physics and the experience was extremely productive. My son mentioned that Bruce was not a boring teacher and he made things easy to understand. Mr. Bruce even explained a Physics concept to me and I am terrible in math!
I highly recommend Bruce's tutoring skills.
Bruce has been great with my daughter. We have been working with him for approximately 6 mos. and my daughters grade has improved by 2 letter grades. We continue to work with him to insure she understands to material and work through any problems she may encounter. This has been a very positive experience for us. Bruce is very patient and attentive and has rearranged his schedule to help out before a test.
I was relocated to US recently with my son and he is learning ESOL from Bruce. He knows very well how to lead my boy to learn new language from his knowledge and experience. With Bruce I am now not much worrying about my son's new school life in new country of new language.
This has only been my second section with Mr. Bruce, and I am feeling much better about Statistics. He is very patient and goes over and beyond to explain the information to me. He is a delight! He is a math genius!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Algebra 1 can seem like a big step from the concrete world into abstracts. This can bamboozle many students - but it's not that hard... There are really simple and quick ways to make this a seamless and EASY process. Algebra is a very powerful tool in multiple situations, so it's well worth the effort to make it work for you. Repeat - work for you - not scare you.
Algebra 2 kicks in with much more powerful analysis tools to describe and evaluate real-life situations in hundreds of scientific disciplines. It is a must for those following the sciences - but can intimidate if the core concepts aren't fully mastered. Getting a solid grounding in core concepts is the key to turning Algebra 2 from a scary snake into an inoffensive (but very useful) worm.
Calculus is where math really brings years of preparation into fine focus and offers powerful ways of resolving extremely complex problems - easily and quickly.
Many students are unecessarily scared of calculus. Don't be! If you study and master the basic concepts then (as in other disciplines) you will find you can hold your own and smile at your prowess.
Two major calculus areas are; "differentiation" - which looks at rates of change of functions, and "integration" - which allows you to calculate areas and volumes of functions which, otherwise, with lesser math skills, would be impossible to calculate.
This is "turbo-math" at is very best! Enjoy it!
As a graduate engineer, entered multinationals via steel manufacture (England) and then auto parts (US Steel, Brazil). From there moved into hospital products (Johnson & Johnson Brazil) and on into self employment. Taught Career Development in Technical Colleges (resume building, interview techniques, behavior, anger management, office technology, etc). Great experience in change management and its impact on careers.
Experience as a technical person in manufacture, engineering management, upper level management on to directorships - going through the multiple changes required in personal style, leadership, and behavior.
Graduate in Manager Development Program of US Steel leading to world-standard management. Well-versed in Transactional Analysis and Emotional Intelligence applied to business.
I have experience tutoring differential and integral calculus with another tutoring service for 3+ years. This encompasses the study of differential equations. The students have all been 11th and 12th grade in various schools around Gwinnett county in Georgia.
Some functions can be more complex and require powerful ways to find their differentials, (which can also be called "prime" of a function).
The Chain Rule which resolves prime of f(g(x)) into f'(g(x)) x g'(x) which can be put into words as, prime of the outer function times prime of inner function. Note: rather difficult to demonstrate this example on a keyboard.
The Product Rule resolves (f.g)' - the differential of the product of two functions, f(x) times g(x) which becomes
f'.g + g'.f i.e. the prime of f(x) times g(x) plus the prime of g(x) times f(x).
I lived in Brazil for 30 years and had a school teaching English to executives in multinational companies.
We developed an easy system to show how English works.
English is very different from Spanish and Portuguese. Understanding the differences helps you to see HOW to speak English.
We know how hard English can be for people from other countries.

I was really lucky to find a fabulous computer teacher in the 90's. He taught me how to knock down and rebuild a computer and all the fancy stuff that software could do.
I was then on PC's and stuck there for years. Most of my clients were on Windows, so there was no option. But, three years ago I was able to move over to Mac and love it.
Whatever your needs, software, search engine optimization, even basic HTML - I have resources to help you.
Remember that the secret is NOT to know it all, but to know WHERE to look!
Geometry can seem daunting because you "have to" memorize so many theorems.
But, in reality, if you break each theorem down into common sense (often with a quick sketch) then a hazy notion or idea can turn into a clear understanding instantly.
I learned Microsoft Windows in the mid 1980's with a great teacher, but, it didn't take long to discover that Windows really is a massive bandage covered in band-aids! Just look at the volumes of updates they put out constantly to "fix" issues.
Two years ago, I finally made it to my MacBook and they say, "Once on a Mac - Never Go Back!
It takes a little while to adjust to Mac's interface. That's where I can help you.
I studied and spent a many hours digging around to become fully familiar with the system. That's time I can save you!
Once you know your way around, you'll find that Macs are intuitively easy to grasp and manage. They make common sense, and you'll see that many of MS recent ideas are really copied from Mac.
I can help you feel comfortable with your Mac in just a few short hours.
MS Word is the international standard for producing text. Mastery of Word makes it easy to produce tip-top professional-looking documents with more resources available than most of us can imagine. It's a VERY powerful tool TOO powerful for most - but can be mastered relatively quickly with a little one-on-one training.
Phonics is the art of translating vowel sequences into long or short sounds. Long sounds can be equated to the sounds of the alphabetic vowels, a, e, i, o, u. The short sounds, are like, cat, get, bit, cot, and cut.
Most consonants, in English, carry a stable sound pattern and can be memorized easily. Consonant sequences, like 'ph', 'th', and 'sh' all carry a specific sound. Once a vowel sequence is recognized as such, then reading capability increases exponentially.
I have used phonics to teach reading to both my boys, whom I home-school, with enormous success. It not only has taught them to read well, but has enhanced their spelling abilities.
Phonics is a tool I have used to help teach adults English as a Foreign Language. I set up and ran an English school for executives in Sao Paulo, Brazil (1990s) where I designed, wrote, and taught all the major concepts of the English language (from basic to advanced levels). This included phonics to improve pronunciation and accent reduction, while enhancing reading skills.
I recently taught ESOL here in Suwanee, Georgia (Donna/Dr. Davis - Dental Office) where phonics was the initial focus. The students left that office recently.
Physics is a fascinating subject and universally useful. But, it can seem daunting at first. The secret is to keep your cool and get clear explanations of the concepts. Once this is down and mastered you'll see that you can do it too!
Portuguese shares common roots from the Latin. English, French, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese all share many points of convergence - more than at first meets the eye. Years of in-depth experience has shown that learning a foreign language is more a matter of mastering the structure of the language (convergence and divergence) than anything else. Once the "mechanics" of the structure are mastered it's a simple matter to build vocabulary and add on words and phrases. The speed of learning can be astounding.
Most students struggle with Algebra because they haven't gotten their minds around the notion of strange variables like "x".
This barrier can be broken down in minutes with a common sense explanation.
Algebraic math is a major stepping stone to multiple sciences and must be mastered to facilitate future academic progress in the sciences.
As algebra skills consolidate, we move toward calculus (differential and integration calculus) which employs extremely powerful math skills. Pre-calculus is the bed rock of algebraic math upon which calculus stands. Most schools only get into full-blown calculus at college levels - not high school.
Probability is the calculation of the likelihood of something happening, or not. If it is certain, then it gets a 1, meaning 100% certain. If it is impossible, then it gets a zero.
This branch of math has applications in a myriad of life and work situations, like insurance, financial decisions, business strategies, and even gambling - they all use probability calculations to make them viable.
I first got involved - deeply - in languages when I moved to Brazil and had to learn Portuguese VERY quickly. The methods I learned in that process stood me in good stead when I later set up and ran a very successful school teaching English to executives in Brazil.
Subsequently, I became very involved in translating and interpreting (both simultaneous and consecutive) and had to delve even deeper into the nuances of language across cultures.
Proofreading was a useful spin-off from all this experience, as I had found ways to quickly spot errors (both in substance and grammar) very quickly.
Many say they would rather die than speak in public - but it is easy with practice and knowledge. I first learned with Toastmasters Club. We would meet once a week and each of us would make a brief presentation on our week and the week to come. Practice makes perfect! There are many helpful techniques, like voice projection, for example which allow for good clear diction without forcing the vocal chords - scanning the audience as if in a conversation - doing mouth relaxation before to soften facial expression - speech rhythm and modulation - body language - how to prepare and then use notes. Finally emotional and mental posture play a major role in conveying the message adequately. I have stood on stage hundreds of times, and spoken before groups of tens and also tens of thousands with equal ease - in English and in Portuguese. It's easy when you know how!
SAT, ACT, GMAT, and other exams are used to test general skill sets in math, language arts, etc. These skills are needed to form a solid grounding upon which more advanced algebra, trigonometry, and geometry can develop.
Statistics deals with gathering, organizing, analyzing, and interpreting events and measurement of data that have been recorded.
It shows how meaningful conclusions can be drawn quickly from large amounts of data that might appear confusing.
Statistics makes sense of large amounts of data with meaningful conclusions.
Teaching of English as a Foreign Language is a particular skill when it is applied to adults.
A mother tongue is a powerful part of our psyche and can be used to facilitate, or hinder, assimilating a new language.
Children, by nature, do not have this potential barrier.
A fast and successful learning curve can be obtained for adult students when constructive comparisons are made with the essential structure of the mother tongue and target language.
When essential structures, like grammar, syntax, prepositions, etc. all make sense, then learning becomes more fun and far more productive.
Trigonometry is basically the mathematical measurement of shapes and the angles that form them.
Terms like tangents, sines, and cosines - are concepts that must be mastered in order to move forward.
As "trig" progresses, then the relationships between these terms, trig identities, and unit circle, become even more fundamental and important to an understanding of graphing and transformations.
A solid foundation of the basics is vital - with that - trig is really very easy.
Trig has myriad applications in science - it's important.
