Adobe Photoshop

I have been using Adobe Photoshop since version 4 was released (in 1996) and while I wouldn't consider myself a "master" of Photoshop, I am very capable with the program, and use it daily with my digital photography work.

I have taught people the fundamentals of Photoshop in the past, and I use a hands-on approach to demonstrate the various tools and techniques while the student is learning how to use the program. Since there are multiple ways to accomplish almost any task in Photoshop, it's important that the student has a clear idea of exactly what it is they want to learn about the program. Learning how to use each of the tools is very different from learning how to create a certain effect or make specific adjustments to an image. It's much easier to learn the program if the student has a clear understanding of what it is they want to know how to do before the training actually begins. That being said, I'm always willing to show anyone some of the cool things that Photoshop can do.

Desktop Publishing

I am familiar with Adobe InDesign & Pagemaker, Microsoft Publisher, and have working knowledge of Quark Xpress. I have worked as a Desktop Publishing instructor for an after-school honors program.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
