For the past two years, I have been working as an ESL teacher and tutor in South Korea. While there, I worked with kindergarten, elementary, and middle school students. At my school, we focused on reading, writing, conversation and grammar. I also have some experience preparing middle school students for TOEFL and other entrance exams. Prior to Korea, I lived in the DC area, where I worked as a private tutor for elementary students. I assisted them with study skills, math, reading, and writing. Although most of my experience is with younger students, I have tutored and taught small group ESL lessons to adults.

From 2008 to 2010, I worked as an elementary educator at a public school in Baltimore while working towards my Master of Arts in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University. I successfully completed my degree in the Spring of 2010.

Overall, I am a fun and energetic tutor! I will adapt my tutoring methods to meet the individual needs and learning style of each student. I look forward to hearing from you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a Master of Arts in Teaching and previously held a certificate to teach grades 1-6 in Maryland. In Baltimore, I taught second and third grade. I have also tutored lower and upper elementary students in math, reading, writing, and study skills.

Phonics

While working as a certified teacher in Maryland, I taught phonics to students in second and third grade as needed. In South Korea, I used a phonics approach to teach reading to English language learners.
