In fall 2014 I will begin my 6th year of teaching. I am certified to teach grades 4-8 in Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, and Social Studies. One of my biggest strengths is organization, and I love working with children on getting organized and study skills. In college, I studied abroad at Oxford University and earned a GPA of 3.58/4.0. I graduated from the University of Georgia with my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. I also earned my Masters of Education degree from Georgia State University, and my Educational Specialist from Valdosta State University.
When I start tutoring a child, I like to first determine the student's present levels of performance. This provides me with a clearer picture of how I can help the student reach his or her academic best. Because of this, the first session is diagnostic before a plan is put in place for future sessions.
I hold my Masters Degree in Behavioral and Learning Disabilities, which included strategies for keeping students with ADD/ADHD focused and engaged while learning. I have been diagnosed as ADD and can identify with students who also have difficulty concentrating. I know the research-based strategies for instruction as well as what has helped me be academically successful.
I hold my Masters Degree in Behavioral and Learning Disabilities. I have worked as an interrelated teacher and have taken classes specific to dyslexia and dyscalculia. Many students I teach have dyslexia, so I have tried numerous strategies in helping them learn to cope with their dyslexia while being successful with reading.
Mathematics was always my strongest subject as a student. I am certified in the state of Georgia to teach Mathematics to students in grades 4-8.
I hold a Masters Degree in Behavioral and Learning Disabilities. I have worked as an interrelated teacher and worked with students having significant handwriting difficulties.
I have my Reading Endorsement and have taught English Language Arts for 5 years. Over these 5 years, my students average between 1.5 and 2 years of reading growth per year. Some students have grown as much as 4 grade levels in reading in one school year!
I have taught many people how to begin sewing. I have taken many sewing classes and would be able to tutor someone as to how to begin sewing.
I hold my Masters Degree in Behavioral and Learning Disabilities.
As a teacher, I have worked with an advisory group on study skills, led a study skills club titled "Work Your Way to the Top," and work with students on their study skills daily during homeroom and weekly during tutorial.
