I graduated from Emory University with high honors in May 2013, with a BA in Economics
and Interdisciplinary Studies (concentration: Intercultural Studies). In college (and previously in high school), I was involved in peer tutoring. I tutored over 100 students in introduction to and intermediate microeconomics
as well as statistics
through Emory's Academic Advising and Support Programs in the Office for Undergraduate Education during my junior and senior years.
After graduation, I traveled to Spain for a few months to live out a dream: to practice Spanish
and learn Flamenco. While in Spain, I took a certification course for teaching English
as a foreign language
and put what I learned to use in private tutoring sessions and in my work as an au pair, where I taught children English.
Now that I'm back home, I'm looking forward to helping students in ATL reach their educational goals in terms of succeeding in economics or math
classes, using my experiences in classes as well as my experiences tutoring and breaking down topics so that they are easier to comprehend and apply. I also look forward to supporting non-native English speakers attain proficiency in English, through helping with reading
, speaking and listening. Not only am I a certified ESL
teacher (by the London Teacher Training School), I have been a student of 4 foreign languages (Arabic
, Spanish and Chinese
) myself - so I know what it is like to learn a new language
and to face the challenge of communicating in a language that is not one's mother tongue! Also, as a result of this exposure, I have a good understanding of some language systems and can hopefully target the source of problem areas more easily.
I enjoy working with both children and adults, and have experience with both.
I look forward to hearing from you and supporting your efforts in achieving success in Economics, Math or ESL courses!
