I have been teaching students for more than a decade. I have refined skills in communication to help students understand math their way, relating to their strengths. Through a calm, but fun atmosphere, I show them how math can makes sense to them. Math can be useful and fun for everyone. It only needs to be presented the right way.
I help the student by watching them practice and listening to them explain what they are learning. I want to identify what math they know to determine a path to learn what they need. I assess their foundation, set a plan to fill any gaps, and reassess.
I am a graduate of West Georgia University with a focus in Finance. In 2007, I was a teacher for both high school and middle school math and science. In 2008, I started a math tutoring business located in Acworth. I have tutored hundreds of students over the last 6-7 years. I have worked with students from pre-k to adults who have challenges like ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, Discalculia, Aspergers, etc. I know how to work with students who count on fingers, don't remember their multiplication or how to think with fractions.
Foundation is everything in math. My goal is to help math make sense so it can be a tool to achieve what the students loves.
