As a recent graduate from Oglethorpe University with a BA in Psychology and Communications with a minor in English, I decided that there was much more that I want to do with my life. Right after graduation, I sought after my ESL certification and am now a certified instructor. Throughout my personal as well as professional experience, I have learned that my one true passion is to help others through teaching. I believe everyone deserves a chance to seek better for him or herself and their families.

To be a successful teacher it is important to have engaged students to maximize their full participation as well as maintain a level of respect between teacher and student. My students will feel comfortable and confident with the skills that I will teach to enhance their English language ability. I am open to questions, comments, and concerns allowing my students to maximize their time spent with me. Through various games, pronunciations techniques, lessons and assignments, my teaching skills are effective for any learner.

Being personal, positive and open allows me to connect with parents, children, and the adult learner in any ESL environment. I look forward to helping you with all of your English needs!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Phonics

I am a certified ESL/TEFL/TSOL instructor with many years of practice. When teaching ESL the basic fundamentals to a successful lesson include physical, visual, as well as mental stimulation in which the student can relate the information taught to their everyday life. My approach in teaching is to connect with all types of learners through games and activities that they can practice on their own. With phonics my initial approach would relate to music; repetition and melody does wonders!

Public Speaking

I have taken several public speaking classes and have utilized all information learned for all speaking engagements. Participating in panels, public speaking events, and online presentations, I have created an outline that captures audience attention, keeps them interested, and has them actively participate in discussion to fully understand the subject at hand. My speaking style ranges from platform, to group activity and role play. Together we will work on being comfortable, speaking clearly, as well as target focus for presentation.
