I am offering tutoring in English, Russian and Ukrainian languages. My specialization is English Academic Writing. However, I can also teach other English language skills, such as listening, reading, and speaking. If you need to improve your grammar, expand vocabulary, or prepare for a test (TOEFL, SAT), I will be more than happy to help. I got my MA degree in Teaching English as a Second Language at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I have a Graduate Teacher Certificate and Teacher Scholar Certificate from the Center for Teaching Excellence of the U of I. As well as this, I have a Certificate in TESL fulfilling 300-hour requirements. Currently I am doing my PhD in Applied Linguistics and working in the ESL Program at Georgia State University. I am helping international students from all over the world to improve their English language skills. Being an international student myself, I can provide a valuable insight into learning a language from the perspective of a non-native speaker because I myself have gone through a similar process of learning a foreign/second language.
In addition, I can tutor Russian and Ukrainian because those are my native languages. I come from the Eastern part of Ukraine, which is Russian-speaking; however, I have been instructed in Ukrainian language in my high school and University. Even though my diplomas and certificates are in Teaching English, I can apply English classroom methodologies to teaching Russian or Ukrainian.
All my lesson plans are always accustomed to the needs of my tutees. I favor communicative task-based approach to language teaching which guarantees full engagement and best results, according to the most recent research in the theory of Second Language Acquisition. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon!
