I am a pedagogista in a Reggio Emilia-inspired preschool that serves children 1-5. My role is to continually develop curriculum alongside staff and families. I study innovative research surrounding early childhood development and education in order to improve curriculum. Before I worked in this setting, I lived in Seoul, South Korea for two years as a middle school English teacher. I am TESL certified, and I have always had a penchant for writing. My degree is in social work focused on at-youth risk, and I have always been interested in education. Since my graduation in 2009 I have been in the education field and have tutored outside of my career.
My method of tutoring is meeting your needs as a student. A general and casual assessment will be done in the beginning in order to pinpoint areas that need improvement. From there a plan is developed that takes into account the student's learning style and comfort zone. I believe it more of a success to be able to apply information rather than regurgitate it. My goal with every student is to teach learning strategies and developing confidence in learning in order to move forward.
