I have two passions: teaching and traveling. I have been tutoring for more than 13 years. In Brazil, I taught English and, here, in the States, I had a couple of students interested in learning Portuguese. The method is the same: I always ask what my students' interests are, so I can also prepare individual material for them. I make a mix of grammar (I have lots of books), newspaper's articles, videos, songs. Also like to bring to class cultural aspects, hints about trips and food. In Brazil I was also a journalist and editor assistant for the Travel section of the largest Brazilian newspaper. That's why, somehow, I enjoy making a class as a 'short trip' in depth with the language. My husband is American and I met him in a trip to Ireland in 2002. He is also my student, as he did not speak any Portuguese when we met and I told him I would marry him If he would speak my language too. He always gets lots of compliments and people say he does not have a strong accent (I believe having some accent is part of the charming of speaking another language). I love the challenge of helping students to progress in their learning process. My recent language experience is seeing my 2 year old daughter growing up bilingual.
