The ACT English Test assesses your knowledge of English grammar and writing.
My classes are designed to give test candidates exactly what they need to do well on the grammar section and to teach a writing format and style that will get top marks on the "optional" (check college requirements) essay section.
The ACT Science section requires strong critical reading skills more than actual science knowledge (although there's some of that on the test too.)
I work with my students on reading and scanning for details, sketching quick charts and graphs to keep track of information read and using deductive reasoning to answer the questions accurately and quickly for the best score possible.
I took many of the courses required of the anthropology major at UCLA before I changed my major to Political-Science with a Minor in Anthropology. I still retain much of that knowledge and enjoy the subject immensely. I studied mainly cultural and linguistic anthropology. I took a forensic course, but would not feel confident in my abilities enough to tutor.
One of my favorite subjects of all time! I studied Archaeology as part of my Anthropology Minor at UCLA. I averaged A's in my minor courses and still retain much of the information learned.
Are you worried about the essay section of the bar exam? I passed the Georgia state bar exam a few years ago. The essay section is not super difficult (in relation to the MBE) but does require the ability to 1) see the issues presented 2) state them and 3) deal with them in organized and efficient way REALLY FAST. :)
I offer students plenty of help and practice with the items 1-3 above so that on test-day they'll be armed with the tools they need to pass the essay section of the exam.

I’ve been teaching Jr. High and High School aged-students how to take their private school admissions exams since 2008. I teach all sections of the ISEE test (Verbal Reasoning, Reading Comp, and Essay) EXCEPT Quantitative Reasoning.
For many kids, taking the ISEE is their first encounter with a really 'big' standardized test; and they are quite nervous . With this in mind, I begin test preparation by explaining what the test is all about and how to approach it in order to do one's best.
After that, I'll give a practice exam, and from that I develop a study plan to address the weakest spots first in order to boost confidence. Once that's accomplished, we move on to the candidate's strengths, the stuff they feel really great about. I find this approach works great with young students and I always see vast improvement by the time we've finished preparing for the exams.
As an attorney, I practice public speaking skills frequently, whether in court, at administrative hearings, or before audiences of potential clients. My experience as a debate team teacher to summer day-camp students also comes in handy.
In my sessions, students learn simple methods designed to enable them to, with a little practice, speak comfortably to an audience, whether small and intimate, like co-workers at a business meeting, or larger gatherings, such as participants at a trade seminar or conference.
Because public speaking is more than just reading one's notes aloud, I teach the ability to think critically, identify goals, and communicate a specific message in an organized, coherent way without succumbing to nervousness. The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)for nursing students is a bit of a surprise, in terms of difficulty, for the uninitiated. This is a quick multiple-choice assessment of basic academic knowledge in reading, mathematics, science and English and language usage.
I tutor students in English and Critical Thinking/Reading TEAS content using test-prep materials to improve student's ability in paragraph comprehension, passage comprehension and inferences/conclusions. I can also help TEAS candidates with the essentials of science reasoning, and technical aspects of the English language, like punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, contextual words and spelling.
Students in my class learn quick and easy methods for 1) brainstorming and developing a solid thesis, 2) organizing and outlining a draft and 3) adding one's personal flare to the final product. I simplify the writing process so that many of my students are able to dramatically improve their abilities in just a few lessons. Writing is fun when you know how!
