Dear Potential Student,
I have been tutoring Mathematics for over ten years. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Georgia State University, during which time I also took many physics and science classes to better understand the application of math in the real world. I was president of the Physics Club, as well as secretary and a member of the Math and Stats Club. I created the undergraduate physics tutoring program during my leadership, and it continues to function since my departure from my undergraduate program. I have worked as a tutor for private companies, as a tutor for Georgia State in their Mathematics Assistance Complex, and I continue to tutor currently as an independent contractor.
I will be entering a graduate program in 2013 to pursue a Master's Degree in Mathematics, concentrating on the application of statistics.
The areas of tutoring in which I specialize are Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus (1-3), Trigonometry, Prealgebra, Word Problems (as a general skill), Statistics, Social Statistics, SAT/ACT prep, Physics, Earth Science, Chemistry, and Study Skills. I have tutored a number of other subjects as well, but these are my specialty.
I have worked with a variety of learning types, as well as some students with learning disabilities or attention disorders. I find that students with problems focusing tend to benefit more from online tutoring than in-person tutoring, with some exception.
For students with poor study skills, I do offer guidance and techniques to help improve organization, retention, and recall.
For more information, please contact me ASAP. If you do not find what you need with me, I will gladly point you in the direction of someone who can.
Thank you for considering me as your next tutor. I wish you luck and success in your endeavors.
*All sessions are over Skype. I use a tablet to demonstrate mathematical processes and techniques. Student must be able to access Skype. I can assist in setting Skype up, if necessary. I do offer a free 15-minute trial session during which students may determine if they would like to use Skype tutoring. I have tutored online over the last 15 months, and I find it very helpful for students who are visual and/or auditory learners. Some students prefer to be in front of the students, but you can determine this during the 15-minute trial session, if desired. Skype session rates include a set of notes (full-color) taken during the session which the student can later print or save for future self-studying.*
