I have great experience tutoring in academia and currently, I work with non-traditional students of all ages and races at a local college on topics ranging from grammatical prepositions to literature dissection. I have also been a student teacher for a 2nd grade class, focusing mainly on reading comprehension and writing skills. I have volunteered for Wink, a literacy advocacy program for the youth of Atlanta, and have conducted poetry and writing workshops with the organization. Currently, I am pursuing CRLA certification as a tutor.
First and foremost, I have a genuine desire to see my students excel and master subjects that they never believed they could. I believe that it takes just one light bulb going on in a student's head to churn out something genius. It is my goal to show the student the easiest way to understand something and foster a love for that subject within the students. To do this, I try to understand the individual learning style of the student and tutor to that mentality. I am patient, relate well to students, and am willing to give the attention needed to tutor even the most difficult cases.
